    摘要: Apparatus, methods, and related data structures for validating a routing configuration in a communication system are disclosed. Routing information in a communication system is passively collected, illustratively from routing protocol advertisement messages. A routing configuration of the communication system is validated based on the collected routing information. Validation may involve comparing information associated with electronic addresses in an address space of the communication system with the collected routing information, and also or instead comparing an intended routing configuration with an explicit routing configuration, for example. A data structure may include information indicating an electronic address and information indicating a result of validating a routing configuration associated with the electronic address.

    摘要: A system (RMS) is dedicated to the management of resources within a communications network comprising a multiplicity of resources (NEQ, NEL) able to fulfill an assigned network role, defined by policy rules. The system (RMS) comprises i) policy management means (PM) charged with formulating the policy rules, ii) monitoring means (NRC) coupled to the resources (NEQ, NEL) and charged, when they receive a service provision request, with selecting a resource that satisfies a network role corresponding to the service, from among certain resources of the network which have not yet been associated with a processing role associated with the requested service, and with associating with this selected resource a processing role associated with the requested service, and iii) a policy server (PS) coupled to the monitoring means (NRC) and to the management means (PM) and charged with storing the policy rules and, when it receives the designation of the resource selected and of the associated network and processing roles, with determining from among the policy rules stored the policy rules which define the network role associated with the processing role so as to transmit them to the selected resource (NEQ, NEL) so that it instigate them.

    摘要: A methods of implementing event based distributed multicast flow accounting are presented. Multicast-enabled routers request, and aggregate traffic flow measurement information from downstream multicast-enabled routers participating in dependent multicast sub-trees. Records are kept by the multicast-enabled router regarding changes to the underlying multicast tree topology. The aggregate traffic flow measurements and topology information are reported to multicast-enabled routers upstream. Advantages are derived from the ability to accurately compute multicast content transport costs within a communications service provider's network.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for implementing a process having at least one process step, and for transferring data between process steps. The apparatus includes a processor and a processor-readable memory for storing first and second sets of instructions. The first set of processor-readable instructions is operable to provide at least one process module operable to implement at least one process step. The process module has at least one functional option and is operable to receive an input message including at least one input variable to be acted upon by the process module, and an identification of which of the functional options is to be rendered active during execution of the process module. The process module is further operable to provide an output message including at least one output variable produced by the process module and at least one status variable for providing a status indicator produced by the process module. The second set of processor-readable instructions is operable to cause the processor to define in the memory a form structure having a data definition portion defining input and output variables associated with the process, a data map portion defining message contents for use in the input message, and a step definition portion for associating the message contents with at least one process step.

    摘要: Various embodiments relate to a system and related method for managing a connection of a user device to a communications network. Various embodiments relate to a Policy and Charging Rules Node (PCRN) receiving a user requests through multiple serving gateways. The PCRN may assign one of the serving gateways as a primary serving gateway when the serving gateway sends a Gateway Control Session that binds to an IP-CAN session established in the PCRN. When the PCRN receives a subsequent message from another serving gateway, the PCRN may reassign the new serving gateway as primary when its Gateway Control Session matches. The PCRN may then mark the former serving gateway as pending termination and signal the marked gateway to terminate. After sending rules to serving gateways not pending termination, the PCRN may delete those serving gateways marked for termination.

A Policy and Charging Rules Node (PCRN) may receive a message including a service request and may refer to a subscriber profile to add at least one subscriber identifier (ID) to the message. An Online Charging System (OCS) may thereafter receive a translated message originating from the PCRN and use the at least one subscriber ID included in the translated message to find charging information for the actual subscriber. The OCS may include the charging information in a charged message. A device providing service may then use the charged information to charge the actual subscriber for the requested service.
