    Abstract: An edge server for providing a virtual reality (VR) image is proposed. The server may include a rendering synchronization unit synchronizing a visual field and a margin with a virtual reality device. The server may also include a rendering unit generating a rendered image by rendering a visual field area corresponding to the visual field and a margin area corresponding to the margin based on a rotation center in an entire virtual reality image. The server may further include an encoding unit generating a reduced margin area by dividing a resolution of the margin area by a scaling factor, and encoding the visual field area and the reduced margin area to generate a split virtual reality image including the encoded visual field area and the encoded reduced margin area. The server may further include a streaming transmission unit transmitting the split virtual reality image to the virtual reality device.

    Abstract: An image region segmentation method and system suing self-spatial adaptive normalization is provided. The image region segmentation system includes: an encoder configured to encode an image for segmenting a region by using a plurality of encoding blocks; and a decoder configured to decode the image encoded by the encoder and to generate a region-segmented image by using a plurality of decoding blocks, wherein each of the encoding blocks processes an inputted image into a convolution layer, performs spatial adaptive normalization, and then reduces the image and delivers the image to the next encoding block. Accordingly, spatial characteristics of the image are considered in an encoding process and a decoding process, so that region segmentation can be exactly performed with respect to various images.

    Abstract: This application relates to a mechanical button apparatus that includes a body where an upper portion thereof is closed and a lower portion thereof is opened and a bottom plate attached on a display screen of a display apparatus to cover the opened lower portion. The body includes an aperture member including a wing set expanded or contracted in a rotation direction of the body. The body also includes a photovoltaic (PV) cell array substrate including a PV cell configured to generate power for charging a battery and an optical sensor configured to convert light signals, reflected by the expanded or contracted wing set, into electrical signals. The body further includes a circuit substrate configured to operate with the power charged into the battery, calculate number of rotation manipulations of the body by using the electrical signals, and transmit the calculated number of rotation manipulations to the display apparatus.

A system for automatic augmentation of sign language translation training data according to an embodiment includes: a database configured to store a sequence of sign language glosses and a sequence of spoken-language words in pairs; and an augmentation module configured to augment the pairs stored in the database. Accordingly, gloss-based training data of high quality may be acquired by performing automatic augmentation for gloss-based training data for sign language translation in an efficient method in terms of time and economic aspects, and eventually, accuracy of translation between sign language glosses and sentences may be enhanced.

Since the skin-conformal sensor is attached to the skin in tight contact therewith, it is possible to measure the heart rate even though a blood vessel is deeply located.

    Abstract: Proposed is a method of manufacturing a piezoelectric composite material. The method includes the steps: wet mixing the ceramic powder, the polymer binder, the plasticizer, and the solvent for 4 to 72 hours to produce the mixed slurry, in which the amount of the polymer binder in the mixed slurry is 3 to 10 parts by weight, the amount of the plasticizer is 0.1 to 3 parts by weight, and the amount of the solvent is 30 or more to less than 50 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the ceramic powder in the mixed slurry; introducing the mixed slurry into a tape casting process to produce a piezoelectric composite sheet; drying and molding the piezoelectric composite sheet in a roll-to-roll process to form a molded piezoelectric composite sheet; laminating and compressing piezoelectric composite sheets molded to produce piezoelectric composite sheet laminates; and cutting the piezoelectric composite sheet laminate into the desired shape and size.

    Abstract: A sunlight concentrating device may include a quantum dot layer having a first surface and a second surface opposite to each other, a first glass layer in contact with the first surface of the quantum dot layer, and a second glass layer in contact with the second surface of the quantum dot layer, and further include a low-refractive layer provided in a predetermined region of the first surface and/or the second surface of the quantum dot layer. The low-refractive layer is patterned, and a refractive index of the low-refractive layer is smaller than a refractive index of the quantum dot layer. The low-refractive layer totally reflects photons, being permeated from the quantum dot layer into the glass layer(s), between the glass layer(s) and the quantum dot layer so that the photons can move within a section with no loss of light thereby overcoming the theoretical limit of light concentration.

    Abstract: Provided is a method for generating a hollow structure of a 3D model on the basis of a 2D laminated cross-sectional outline to reduce the amount of using a material or the weight of a printed matter during laminating and manufacturing. The method for generating a hollow structure based on a 2D laminated cross-sectional outline, according to an embodiment of the present invention, comprises the steps of: slicing the 3D model; generating a hollow structure outline on the basis of the result of the slicing; detecting an overhang area between adjacent hollow structure outlines; recalculating the hollow structure outline according to the result of detecting the overhang area; and generating a hollow structure mesh on the basis of the recalculated hollow structure outline. Accordingly, because 2D laminated cross-sectional data is used, a hollow structure can be generated without separate data processing, thereby reducing a calculation burden. In addition, because the hollow structure is processed so that an overhang area is not generated when generating the hollow structure, a support is not needed therein, thereby making post-processing easy.
