Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The method, system, and apparatus may include managing the operation mode of a user equipment in vehicle-to-everything communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may transmit an inactive request message (or a request message) to a base station to indicate the user equipment is switching from a base station scheduling mode (or a radio access network node scheduling mode) to a peer user equipment scheduling mode (or a roadside unit scheduling mode). The user equipment may receive an acknowledgment message from the base station indicating a state change to allow the peer user equipment scheduling mode. In some cases, the user equipment may receive an area identifier from the base station, and the area identifier may indicate an area where the peer user equipment scheduling mode is allowed.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for recovering a sidelink communication. A wireless node may receive a plurality of sidelink communications, each sidelink communication between two user equipments (UEs); and transmit recovery information in a recovery slot, wherein the recovery information is for recovery of at least one of the sidelink communications by the two UEs or other UEs that transmitted when at least one of the sidelink communications occurred and wherein the recovery slot is for transmission of the recovery information.

The UE may determine a discontinuous reception configuration for the group of UEs based at least in part on the transmission schedule. The discontinuous reception configuration may include a discontinuous reception schedule for the group of UEs. The UE may transmit, to the group of UEs, the discontinuous reception configuration.

Abstract: An apparatus receives, in a transmission from a second UE, an indication of reserved resources for the second UE. The apparatus measures a received power of the transmission from the second UE. The apparatus excludes the reserved resources indicated by the second UE from a set of candidate resources based on the received power of the transmission from the second UE meeting a threshold, where the threshold is based at least in part on whether the reserved resources are associated with a retransmission.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for managing resource reservations in sidelink communications. A method that may be performed by a first user equipment (UE) includes determining a plurality of resource reservations allocated for sidelink communications with at least one second UE and transmitting, to the at least one second UE, control information having an indication of the resource reservations. The method also includes communicating with the at least one second UE during at least one of the resource reservations and determining that a remaining set of the resource reservations is enabled to be reclaimed by one or more UEs. The method further includes taking one or more actions based on the determination that the remaining set of the resource reservations is enabled to be reclaimed by the one or more UEs.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications (e.g., vehicle to everything systems) are described relating to an adaptive design of demodulation reference signals (DMRS) density based on user equipment (UE) velocity. A UE may send assistance information to a transmitting UE to help identify a DMRS pattern based on the relative speed between the two UEs. Also, the transmitter may determine the adaptive DMRS pattern based on its speed without information of the receiver's speed. The transmitter may indicate the adaptive DMRS pattern in control information to the receiver. A base station may receive assistance information, and the base station may determine the adaptive DMRS pattern to be used by the transmitting UE based on the received assistance information and then indicate the adaptive DMRS pattern to the transmitting UE. A UE may determine an adaptive DMRS pattern to use based on feedback from the receiving UE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for sidelink wireless communications are described in which a transmitting device may determine a transport block size (TBS) for a sidelink data channel transmission and provide an indication in in sidelink control information (SCI) to allow a receiving device to determine the TBS to be used for decoding the sidelink communication. The indication provided in the SCI may be an explicit indication in an information element that indicates whether feedback channel resources are included or excluded when determining a number of symbols for use in a TBS determination. The indication provided in the SCI may also be an implicit indication based on one or more values of one or more parameters provided in the SCI. The sidelink communications devices may determine a same TBS across multiple instances of a sidelink data channel transmission that may be transmitted using slots having different slot formats.

Abstract: Aspects directed towards reserving resources for sidelink communications are disclosed. In one example, an initial sidelink communication is transmitted which includes an indication of resources reserved for a subsequent sidelink communication. A transmission restriction is applied for the subsequent sidelink communication based on a transmission characteristic associated with transmitting the initial sidelink communication. The subsequent sidelink communication is then transmitted according to the transmission restriction.
