    摘要: An indexer comprising a housing having an indexing spindle journalled therein in preloaded bearings and adapted to mount thereon a work holding chuck or fixture, the spindle having the radially inner portion of an axially flexible disc brake element or diaphragm affixed thereto, and the housing having a fluid pressure actuated ring non-rotatably but axially movable secured to the housing which axially flexes the radially outer portion of the disc into frictional engagement between the ring and said housing thus to securely lock the spindle in each of its indexed positions to prevent imposition of radial load on the spindle bearings and torque load on the locking pin of the indexing mechanism during the machining of a workpiece held by the chuck or fixture. The indexer herein is further characterized in the provision of a sealing ring in the chamber between preloaded spindle bearings, said sealing ring having an axial passage therethrough which intercommunicates the bearing chambers with a source of lubricant and having a radial passage for conducting fluid under pressure from the housing to the spindle for operation of a fluid pressure operated chuck on the spindle.

    摘要: A machine tool wherein the tool turret is indexible about a shaft and is shiftable axially to move the teeth of a ring gear thereon into and out of mesh with the teeth of a stationary ring gear. The indexing mechanism for the tool turret has a pinion which is coaxial with the turret and can be connected thereto by means of a disengageable clutch. The pinion is in permanent mesh with a reciprocable fluid-operated rack. When the clutch is engaged and the ring gears are disconnected, the rack can index the turret by way of the pinion and clutch. When the clutch is disengaged, the rack can return to its starting position without indexing of the turret because the pinion is free to rotate with reference to the turret.

    摘要: An adjustable intermittent incremental advance system is provided having a rotatable shaft for driving a work take-off in a start-stop rotary incremental advance. A clutch disk and brake disk alternately permit or stop rotary motion of the shaft to provide the intermittent advance. A flywheel is attached to the rotary shaft and acts through a crank arm driven by a motor to provide rotary power to the shaft for predetermined incremental movement. First and second sensors provide timed application of the clutch and brake disks to provide accurate incremental advance and prevent accumulated error in length of advance during prescribed periods of operation of the system.
