    摘要: A round cutting insert includes a bottom surface, a clearance side surface and a top surface. The top surface includes a chip control feature in the form of a continuous, circumferential depression formed by a substantially planar bottom surface and a pair of upward sloping substantially planar side walls that form an angle with respect to the top surface. The chip control feature may also include a plurality of radially offset bumps located in the depression. The bumps may have the same size and shape, or may have a different size and shape. The top surface also includes an elevated island having one or more indexing marks for easy indexing of the cutting insert.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an indexable milling insert and a milling tool for chip removing machining. The milling insert is intended to be able to mill substantially perpendicular corners in a work piece. The milling insert comprises an upper side, a lower side and edge surfaces extending therebetween. The upper side and the lower side are substantially identical. An imaginary circle inscribed in the milling insert touches the milling insert periphery in four to six points. Lines of intersection between the edge surfaces and the sides form relative to each other substantially perpendicular main cutting edges and minor cutting edges. Each of the sides includes a support surface, each of which being provided in a plane. Each minor cutting edge projects from the plane of the associated support surface. Each major cutting edge intersects the plane of the associated support surface.

    摘要: This invention relates to a boring tool having a cutting insert. The insert has a chip breaker with a base that extends from the secondary cutting edge to the primary cutting edge. The primary cutting edge, which is also referred to below as the major cutting edge, thereby runs diagonally with respect to the insert surface or top face of the indexable insert toward the chip breaker base of the chip breaker. The secondary cutting edge, which is also referred to as the minor cutting edge below and is advantageously straight, descends toward the major cutting edge, as a result of which a wiper geometry is realized on the minor cutting edge. Therefore the major cutting edge and the minor cutting edge preferably form a closed triangle with the chip breaker base.

    摘要: An indexable cutting insert for chip removal machining, the insert having a polygonal body having opposed lower and upper faces that are mutually interconnected by peripheral faces meeting at rounded corners, which are formed symmetrically with respect to upper face bisectors. The upper face includes a mid portion, which is positioned inside of a chip face. Intersections of the chip face and the peripheral face forming major cutting edges and corner cutting edges. The chip face comprises a row of protrusions. A pair of oblong corner protrusions are provided at each corner area of the chip face. The pair is located symmetrically with respect to an associated bisector of the upper face. Each oblong corner protrusion has a longitudinal axis and at least two peak areas. The peak areas are positioned in line, essentially on the longitudinal axis of each oblong corner protrusion.
