摘要: An inflator (22) for providing inflation fluid ( ) to inflate an inflatable vehicle occupant protection device (14) includes a container (30) storing the inflation fluid under pressure. The container (30) has an outlet passage (80) through which the inflation fluid flows from the container. A rupturable closure member (92) fixed to the container (30) blocks flow of inflation fluid through the passage (80). A support (100) for the rupturable closure member (92) defines a chamber (110) adjacent the rupturable closure member (92). The rupturable closure member (92) has a first portion (122) deformed into the chamber (110) by the pressure of the inflation fluid and a second ring-shaped portion (124) encircling the first portion (122). An initiator (98) ruptures the closure member (92) when actuated by shearing the first portion (122) from the second portion (124).

摘要: Non-fragmenting pressure relief apparatus includes at least one circular rupture disc having a central asymmetric bulged section and a peripheral flange portion. A semi-circular line of weakness extends around the periphery of the bulged section and presents a hinge portion between the ends of the line of weakness. A hold-down member for the rupture disc having an inner opening surrounding the bulged section of the disc is provided with a unitary segment that extends into the inner opening of the hold-down member. The spaced end extremities of the line of weakness extend beneath the hold-down member segment. The hinge portion of the disc upon rupture of the disc bends about a fulcrum defined by the outer margin of the hold-down segment, which in conjunction with deflection of the segment of the hold-down member contributes to anti-fragmentation of the disc.

摘要: Valves 1 and methods for controlling the release of a substance, the valves 1 comprising a housing having an inlet 3 for connection to a source of the substance, an outlet 5 and a passage 7 extending therebetween, the passage 7 enclosed by a ceramic disc 9 and means being provided to apply an electrical pulse to the disc to break the disc 9 and so connect the inlet 3 to the outlet 5, and the methods comprising the steps of containing the substance in a container, connecting the container to a valve 1 comprising a housing having an inlet 3 for connection to the source of the substance, an outlet 5 and a passage 7 extending therebetween, the passage 7 being closed by a ceramic disc 9, and applying an electrical pulse to the disc 9 to break the disc 9 and connect the inlet 3 to the outlet 5. The valves and methods are particularly suited, but not limited, to the control of substances such as pressurised fire extinguishing media.

摘要: A unitary removable barrier for installation in a cylindrical water line to selectively block the water line to passage of water therethrough. The unitary removable barrier is composed of a single piece body having at least one cylindrical section sized to receive upstream and downstream pipes of the water line. A unitary planar disk is molded with the cylindrical section and is of a circular circumference which completely blocks the water line when in place but which is selectively removable from the cylindrical section thus removing the barrier to the passage of water through the line.

摘要: The present invention relates to a bursting insert for installation in a pipeline system for transporting a fluid showing a spontaneous exothermic reaction. The bursting insert comprises a wall which surrounds—at least in part on the outside—a passage volume having the fluid flowing therethrough in a passage direction. A pressure discharge line which is sealed relative to the passage volume with a bursting body extends out of the passage volume. When a predetermined bursting pressure is exceeded, the bursting body can be transferred into a state in which the passage volume and the pressure discharge line are interconnected in fluid-conducting fashion. For an easy mounting of the bursting body, the bursting insert can be designed as a pipeline module which can be installed and dismounted repeatedly in the pipeline system for replacing the bursting body.

摘要: A dispenser (10) for use in dispensing liquid or solid material. The dispenser (10) includes wall portions forming a sealed first chamber (18) containing the material and wall portions forming a second chamber (20) and a molded, rupturable membrane (34) disposed between the first chamber (18) and the second chamber (20). The rupturable membrane (34) is preferably a circular disk with a series of molded radial depressions (40) or weld seams (40) extending from a center point of the disk. When pressure is applied directly to the membrane (34), the membrane (34) is fractured along the depressions (40) or weld seams (40). A method is provided for forming the dispenser (10) by injection molding.

摘要: A heat exchanger (10) having a heat exchanger drain assembly (28) comprising a manifold (12) for storing fluid. A drain port (20) is integrally formed with the manifold (12) and is in selective fluid communication with the reservoir (36) for selectively draining the fluid from the manifold (12). A plug (32) is disposed within the drain port (20) for preventing fluid from draining from the manifold (12). The plug (32) is removable from the drain port ((20) for allowing fluid to drain from the manifold (12). A frangible wall (40) is formed between the drain port (20) and the reservoir (36) to close the drain port (20) and create a non-functional drain port (20), thereby preventing fluid communication between the drain port (20) and the reservoir (36). The frangible wall (40) is fracturable to provide the fluid communication between the drain port (20) and the reservoir (36) for draining the fluid from the tank (12).

摘要: A kinetic antifreeze device for preventing a dry sprinkler system from freezing is disclosed. The kinetic antifreeze device contains a longitudinal pipe for guiding air and water flow connected to a dry sprinkler system pipe at a junction adjacent to a drain valve. The longitudinal pipe provides a pressure gauge, an isolation valve, a bleed off valve and a relief disc means for providing over pressure relief. The relief disc means is either a bursting disc device or a rupture disc device which remains closed when the dry sprinkler system is contains only air. The relief disc exits or opens upon fire suppression fluid entering the system after a main supply of fire suppression fluid is actuated by the dry sprinkler system and the pressure increases due to the presence of fire suppression fluid in the dry sprinkler system.

摘要: The present invention is directed to pressure relief devices and to corresponding pressure relief assemblies that have improved vacuum resistance, improved fragmentation resistance, and/or improved burst control while maintaining low mass. The pressure relief device includes a substantially flat flange section and a domed section. The domed section may include a transitional line that defines a change in the shape of the domed section. The pressure relief device may also include a bracket for securing or aligning a domed section to a flange section. The pressure relief device may further include a stress distribution feature that is disposed transversely to a line of weakness in the domed section. The pressure relief assembly may include a fastener having a wire that is configured to break and release the pressure relief device when subject to a predetermined tensile load.

摘要: A mixing adaptor enables a material to be transferred from a first delivery means to a second delivery means and enables another material to be transferred from the second delivery means to the first delivery means. The adaptor has (i) a hollow main body having a first end, a second end, an interior surface and an exterior surface; and (ii) a septum positioned within the interior surface of the main body. A first channel is defined by a first portion of the interior surface of the main body and by a first side of the septum. The first channel has a primary opening at the first end of the main body and a secondary opening at the second end of the main body. A second channel is defined by a second portion of the interior surface of the main body and by a second side of the septum. The second channel has a primary opening at the second end of the main body and a secondary opening at the first end of the main body. First and second substantially flexible members extend from opposing sides of the septum for selectively closing the secondary openings of the first and second channels. In one embodiment, the septum is movable between a first position and a second position.
