    摘要: A dry sprinkler has a casing tube having an inlet orifice and an outlet orifice. When the sprinkler is in a non-actuated state, an inlet seal assembly operatively seals the inlet orifice and an outlet seat assembly operatively seals the outlet orifice. A translating member extends through the casing tube between an inlet and an outlet. The translating member axially translates from a first position, in which the translating member retains the inlet seal assembly in a sealed state, to a second position, in which the translating member releases the inlet seal assembly, toward the outlet when the outlet seat assembly is released. The sprinkler has a nominal K-factor greater than 17 gpm/(psi)1/2. A difference between a cross-sectional area of the casing tube and a cross-sectional area bounded by an outer perimeter of the translating member is more than 30% of the cross-sectional area of the casing tube.

    摘要: A dry sprinkler includes a flexible tube section that maintains a pressurized fluid, such as a liquid antifreeze solution, between a first end and a second end. A first seal prevents fluid from a supply line from entering the flexible tube section. The first seal is maintained in a sealed position by a pressure of the pressurized fluid. A sprinkler head is coupled to the second end of the flexible tube section, and includes a frame, an output orifice, a deflector, a second seal that seals the output orifice, and a thermally responsive element configured to maintain the second seal in a sealed position when the thermally responsive element is in a non-responsive state. A differential pressure controller maintains a ratio between the pressure of the pressurized fluid in the flexible tube section and a pressure of a supply fluid in the supply line to at least a certain ratio.

    摘要: A dry riser intended to be mounted in a fire protection installation, of the type including a network of vacuum sprinklers. The riser includes an elongate body having, at one of its ends, a connecting piece for coupling to piping, the connecting piece including a first nozzle capable of making a connection between the riser and the piping. The riser includes a shutoff member for shutting off the first nozzle. The other end of the riser bears a sprinkler. A connection is provided between the shutoff member that shuts off the first nozzle and a shutoff member that shuts off the nozzle of the sprinkler. The connection is configured to move in such a way as to cause a shutting-off position of the shutoff member of the sprinkler nozzle to coincide with a shutting-off position of the shutoff member that shuts off the first nozzle.

    摘要: A dry sprinkler installation and sealing device for a cold environment is disclosed. The dry sprinkler installation includes a supply conduit having a first end adapted to communicate with a fire retardant fluid source and a second end supporting a sprinkler head. The supply conduit is dimensioned to extend through an opening in a wall of a cold environment, e.g., a freezer ceiling. A flexible sealing device is positioned about the supply conduit adjacent an exterior surface of the cold environment. A first end of the sealing device is secured about the supply conduit and a second end of the sealing device is secured to an exterior surface of the cold environment. The flexible sealing device allows for radial and axial adjustments to the supply conduit and sprinkler head without comprising the integrity of the sealing device.

    摘要: A dry pipe sprinkler assembly is provided including a sprinkler body having a thermally responsive trigger mounted thereto. A housing, including an inlet end and an outlet end is provided with the outlet end being connected to the sprinkler body. A seal member is disposed at the inlet end of the housing, and a load mechanism extends between the thermally responsive element and the seal member. The load mechanism may include a support portion, a passage tube portion, and an outlet orifice portion slidably received within the housing and movable within the housing upon activation of the thermally responsive trigger to allow the seal member to be dislodged from the inlet end of the housing to allow suppressant fluid to flow therethrough. The dry pipe sprinkler assembly allows the use of different outlet orifice members to provide dry pipe sprinkler assemblies having different K factors while utilizing common components for the remaining dry pipe sprinkler assembly.

    摘要: A method and an apparatus for preventing freezing at the outlet of a fire extinguisher are disclosed. Moisture in the fire extinguisher fluid is removed by contacting the fluid in the fire extinguisher bottle with a desiccant such as molecular sieve 3A. After the fluid in the extinguisher has been in contact with the desiccant for a week, the moisture level is about 5 ppm, well below the 40 ppm which causes freezeup at the outlet. The desiccant is preferably placed inside a metal screen tube having metal wire loops extending from the sides of the mesh tube. The wire loops keep the mesh tube away from the outlet so that flow restriction will not occur. The wire loops also protect the desiccant from being damaged when the fire extinguisher is discharged and provide a handle which can be used to pull the metal screen tube out of the bottle during refurbishment.
