Abstract:
An imaging system includes an illumination system and an optical module which are used together to scan media. The illumination system is composed of a tubular diffusion platen, a light source, and a reflector. The optical module comprises a rotating optical platen that rotates around an imaging assembly composed of a lens array, an optical element, a linear sensor array, an interconnect circuit, and a housing. The optical platen is transparent to allow the imaging assembly to capture and image of the transparent media and functions to accurately locate the transparent media in the optimal focus plane.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus detecting scratch and dirt information of a film document without the need for complex structures and complex control in the image reading apparatus. The apparatus can read a transmissive original document and/or a reflective original document. The apparatus includes a first light source that illuminates the transmissive original document, a second light source that illuminates one of the reflective original document and the transmissive original document, an image sensor that generates electronic image data, a detector unit that detects non-image information from the image data, and a correction unit that corrects the image data, based on the non-image information detected by the detector unit.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes a plurality of sensor IC chips aligned in a row. Each of the sensor IC chips incorporates a plurality of light receiving elements. The plurality of light receiving elements successively output image signals as serial analog signals corresponding to received amount of light upon receiving light from an object to be read. The number of the sensor IC chips is an integer multiple of three. The sensor IC chips are divided into blocks. The number of the blocks is an integer multiple of three. The image signals are outputted on a block-by-block basis.
Abstract:
A mirror attachment structure for an image-reading apparatus that includes a carriage for mounting a light source for illuminating a document and a photoelectric conversion device for receiving light from the document includes a reinforcement sheet metal member. The reinforcement sheet metal member includes first and second sections that do not lie in the same plane and a mirror that is fixed to one of the sections. The carriage supports the reinforcement sheet metal member. The reinforcement sheet metal member may be formed into a proper shape by bending. The mirror may be directly bonded to the reinforcement sheet metal member, mounted on a support attached to the reinforcement sheet metal member, or formed directly on the reinforcement sheet metal member by evaporating aluminum onto the reinforcement sheet metal member.
Abstract:
The present invention is a module for increasing total track, especially an application to an optical capturing device, thus the module for increasing total track may change its total track without re-laying out reflection positions and space in said optical capturing device; there are plural kinds of modules to be designed for different total tracks in the present invention, and said modules can be easily and fast substituted in the optical capturing device. The present invention is based on a theory of an incident angle equal to an ejective angle, thus a merge point can be predetermined by an incident light path and an ejective light path; aforesaid phenomenon is not only suitable an one-time reflection, but also plural reflections, and it can be applied in a module with either one reflection element or plural reflection elements.
Abstract:
A light guide including a light scattering portion that reflects light guided inside the light guide, and a light emitting surface portion emitting light reflected by the light scattering portion to outside the light guide. A light emitting surface portion includes first and second light emitting surface portions, the first light emitting surface portion has a longer circumferential length than that of the second light emitting surface portion in the transversal cross section, and circumference curvature of the first light emitting surface portion in the transversal cross section increases away from the second light emitting surface portion. A normal line to the light scattering portion, passing through the center of the light scattering portion in the transversal cross section, intersects with the first light emitting surface portion, at a point at a near side to the second light emitting surface portion in the transversal cross section.
Abstract:
Provided is an image scanning unit which makes it possible to improve scanning accuracy while also making the overall body thinner by appropriately positioning a plurality of reflection members within an effective space in a carriage frame without wasting space. An image scanning unit, wherein a frame is divided into at least two spaces facing an irradiation surface, a first accommodation unit for accommodating a light source unit is formed in one of the spaces, a second accommodation unit for accommodating at least one reflection member is formed in the other adjacent space, a first reflection member for initially receiving light reflected from the irradiation surface is positioned at the side opposite the irradiation surface with the first accommodation unit positioned therebetween, and a light-shielding member is provided between the first reflection member and the reflection member positioned in the other space and prevents light that has strayed from a scanning light path from the first reflection member from being incident on the reflection member in the other space.
Abstract:
In an image reader, an optical scanning unit reads an original image on an original document sheet. In the optical scanning unit, a lighting device is detachably attached to a housing to emit light toward the original document sheet. The housing houses a reading device to read the light reflected by the original document sheet. A shield member is detachably attached to the housing to shield the reading device from the lighting device to form a space for the reading device inside the housing. A slit is provided in the shield member to guide the light reflected by the original document sheet to the space for the reading device. A second positioner is provided on the shield member to engage a first positioner provided in the housing to position the reading device with respect to the lighting device.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a penta-mirror multi-reflection image scanning module including at least one light source, five reflecting mirrors, a pickup lens, an image sensor, and a frame. The reflecting mirrors reflect a light beam from a document and a plurality of reflecting mirrors reflect a light beam of the document twice or more to change the light beam direction along light path, and satisfy specific optical conditions. The total tracking length (TTL) may be adjusted through an arrangement of the distance of the five reflecting mirrors, but may not be adjusted through the angle of the five reflecting mirrors. Therefore, the present invention not only increases the field of depth by increasing the length of optical path in a limited space, but also facilitates the assembling to adapt to different tracking lengths.
