    摘要: A butterfly valve seal arrangement in a butterfly valve having a cylindrical flow channel with a wall includes a seal flange, an elastomeric seal, a seal channel, and an annular seal retaining ring. The seal flange extends into the cylindrical flow channel from the wall of the cylindrical flow channel. The seal channel is recessed into the wall of the cylindrical flow channel adjacent to the seal flange. And the annular seal retaining ring includes tabs extending into the seal channel which hold the annular seal retaining ring in the cylindrical flow channel. An elastomeric seal is held in compression in the seal channel and against the seal flange by the annular seal retaining ring, and extends into the cylindrical flow channel forming a seal surface held in compression against a vane seat of a vane in a position perpendicular to a direction of flow.

The shaft assembly includes a housing, a cap connected to the housing, a shaft operably positioned in the housing, first and second sealing elements, and the rigid component fixedly attached to the first sealing component. The first and second sealing components are in contact with the housing and the shaft. The rigid component is in contact with the first sealing component and the cap, so as to prevent the first sealing component from extruding outside the cap when the shaft reciprocally moves relative to the housing.

    摘要: A gland packing having required characteristics is obtained by finding relationships between required characteristics and the value of the limiting oxygen index, and adequately defining the level of the required characteristics. The gland packing is configured by twisting or braiding a single or plurality of yarns that are formed by twisting fibers having a limiting oxygen index (LOI) of 21 to 30, preferably 22 to 26. The fibers contain fibers in which a flat ratio is defined as 1.1 to 2, the flat ratio being a value obtained by dividing the maximum value of an interval between two parallel straight line in a state where a section of each of the fibers is interposed between the straight lines, by the minimum value. The fibers contain fibers in each of which a sectional shape has one or more recesses 1 having a depth h of 0.4 μm or more.

    摘要: A seal for use in temperature and pressure extremes is disclosed. It features springs internal to the sealing members and the ability to seal against pressure differentials from opposed directions. A spacer ring prevents contact from oppositely oriented seal components and at the same time prevents spring and seal collapse under extreme loading conditions. The seal assembly is self-centering in a downhole seal bore and can be used on tools delivered on wireline, where the insertion forces available are at a minimum. The seal can withstand pressure differentials in excess of 13,500 PSI and temperatures above 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

    摘要: A remotely chargeable stuffing box adapted for below ground or other inaccessible installations includes telescopically arranged inner and outer members; the outer member being formed with a pair of axially spaced, annular, inwardly opening chambers prepacked with a semi-plastic packing composition axially confined within each chamber by axially spaced annular sealing rings. An annular rib, which serves as a common boundary for the chambers is formed with an annular inwardly opening groove into which is introduced a semi-liquid packing composition adapted to permeate and fill any leakage voids or fissures occurring in the semiplastic packing composition and its associated sealing rings adjacent the surface of the inner member.
