Abstract: The present invention provides a valve (1) for obturating a pipe (2), having: a central axis X, a body (10) having an inlet (12) and an outlet (14), defining an aperture (18), a plurality of obturating portions (30) for obturating said aperture (18), a valve mechanism (70), the plurality of obturating portions (30), moveable from a first closed position (8) to a second open position (9), a valve seat (20), a plurality of first fixed pivot mounts (41) on the body (10) and wherein each obturating portion (30) is pivotally mounted within a first fixed pivot mount (41); a plurality of second non-fixed pivot mounts (42) connected to the valve mechanism (70) and wherein each obturating portion (30) is pivotally mounted within a second non-fixed pivot mount (42); and wherein the valve mechanism (70) and hence each second non-fixed pivot mount (42) is movable in three dimensions.

Abstract: An ion optical arrangement (1) for use in a mass spectrometer comprises electrodes (11, 12, 14) comprising a multipole arrangement defining an ion optical axis, and a voltage source for providing voltages to the electrodes to produce electric fields. The ion optical arrangement is configured for producing a radio frequency electric focusing field for focusing ions on the ion optical axis. The radio frequency electric focusing field has a varying frequency so as to reduce any mass dependence of ion trajectories through the ion optical arrangement. The ion optical arrangement may further be configured for producing a static electric field in response to a DC bias voltage applied to the multipole arrangement. A superimposed varying electric field may be produced by superimposing an AC voltage upon the DC bias voltage.

Abstract: Technologies are generally described for valve assemblies that include a valve body whose inner wall defines two ports and a controllable flow path that extends along the inner wall between the two ports of the valve body. Each port may be fitted with a corresponding gasket. A rotatable member disposed in the controllable flow path of the valve body may include a hemispherical-shaped body with a substantially flat disk-shaped surface portion, and a seal ridge formed about a perimeter of the substantially flat disk-shaped surface portion. During opening and closing operation, the seal ridge may be selectively engaged with either one of the gaskets reducing an initial contact surface, and thereby reducing friction between the rotatable member and the gaskets.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a valve assembly 10 for controlling a volute connecting opening 324 of a multi-channel turbine 500. The valve assembly 10 comprises a housing portion 300, a valve body 100 and an internal lever 200. The housing portion 300 defines a first volute channel 312, a second volute channel 314 and a volute connecting region 320. The housing portion 300 further comprises a cavity 340. The cavity 340 is separated from the volutes 312, 314 and can be accessed from outside the housing portion 300 via a housing opening 342 which extends from outside the housing portion 300 into the cavity 340. The volute connection region 320 is located between the first volute channel 312 and the second volute channel 314 and defines a volute connecting opening 324. The valve body 100 is inserted in the cavity 340 of the housing portion 300 and comprises at least one fin 120. The internal lever 200 is coupled with the valve body 100 and configured to pivotably move the valve body 100 between a first position and a second position. In the first position of the valve body 100, the fin 120 blocks the volute connecting opening 324.
