摘要: A foaming granule is provided that includes an acid, a gas-evolving acid neutralizing agent, a surfactant foaming agent, and an active agent that is a plant growth enhancer, pest control agent, de-icer or anti-icer. Upon wetting a granule, the acid and neutralizing agent are brought into contact releasing gas that is trapped in the surfactant to form a foam that disperses the active agent to a greater area and more uniformly than a conventional nonfoaming granule containing a like amount of active agent. Dispersal of granules followed by sufficient time for foaming to occur represents a typical use methodology.

摘要: A fertilizer spike, in an exemplary embodiment, includes particulate fertilizer source material compacted together under pressure in a die to form a substantially wedged shaped spike body. The spike is configured to be hammered into a terrain such that the spike remains substantially intact. At least a portion of the fertilizer source materials are releasable into the terrain through microbial action. The fertilizer spike is substantially free of a thermoset binder material.

摘要: A method of controlling the movement of biosolids before, during, and after land application. This method aids in management of the problematic movement (i.e., runoff and leaching) of biosolids' components that have been shown to be harmful to human and/or environmental health through both direct and indirect routes of exposure. This method requires that water-soluble polyacrylamide(s) (WSPAM) be combined with the biosolids prior to land exposure.

摘要: A water-dispersible particle for delivery of nitrogen to a plant is disclosed. The water-dispersible particle also delivers an active ingredient such as a plant hormone to a desirable plant or a pesticide or herbicide to an undesirable organism. Methods for making and using the water-dispersible particle are described.

摘要: The present invention provides a phosphorus solid-phase buffering system that can be spatially localized, i.e., banded on top of, or at specific depths, in media, e.g., soil, by which phosphorus concentrations in the media are reduced or maintained at levels sufficient for optimal plant performance. Also provided are methods for improving the cultivation of plants growing in different media. The present invention provides benefits, such as reduced water and pesticide requirements, reduced phosphorus leaching and runoff, and enhanced root growth. The invention can be used in connection with containerized or field-grown plants, e.g., crops, grasses, trees, and the like. The invention is particularly useful for greenhouse and nursery plants, ornamental propagation, vegetable and bedding transplants, and for turf used for stadium fields, golf courses, lawns and the like, where phosphorus leaching is particularly undesirable.

摘要: A process and a device for continuously drying protein-containing sludge, in particular sewage sludge, in a fluidised bed (20) inside a drying container (13). A drying gas flows through the fluidised bed (20) while partially de-watered sludge (6) in granulate form (21) is added to the fluidised bed (20) while dried sludge (10) is withdrawn therefrom. The granules (21) are formed without admixture of dried substances and are granulated preferably at the same time as they are pressed. Sewage sludge may thus be dried without admixture or recycling of dried substances, so that a highly efficient plant is obtained. In addition, a granulated dry material is produced which may be used in various ways.

摘要: Methods, devices and compositions directed to the delivery of a preferably organic formulation of plant nutrients to indoor and outdoor potted plants, cut flowers, vegetable, herb, and flower seedlings, and other types of plants. The methods, devices and compositions form a simple, safe, non-toxic, cost effective and easy to use delivery system comprising the use of a plant nutrient composition. The plant nutrient composition is typically dry and is maintained in a plant nutrient delivery system during storage and shipping. When ready for use, the plant nutrient composition is contacted with hot water to release the plant nutrients retained within the plant nutrient composition, and the resulting infusion is cooled, and then administered to the plants.
