The pallet comprises a horizontal portion of the molded fibrous panel material forming an upper support surface of the pallet, and at least two spaced runners joined to the horizontal portion for engaging the ground to space the horizontal portion above the ground. Each runner comprises at least two vertical portions of the molded fibrous panel material arranged in parallel relation and bonded to one another. In one embodiment, a single panel member is folded along a series of parallel fold lines extending across a width of the member, so as to form the runners and the horizontal portion from the single member.

A column is disposed between each pair of aligned holes. A hollow pin extends through a hole in the column and the apertures of the decks. A rigid insert is disposed in each open end of each pin. Each insert includes a recess for receiving an anti-skid plug.

The first assembly and second assembly advance the liner sheets and fluting sheets into contact with one another along the side of the fluting sheet having the adhesive. The fluting sheets are secured to the liner sheets to form a layered article having an upper and lower surface. A means for correlating operates the first assembly, second assembly, and applicator so that in each cycle of operation the layered article adheres to at least an additional layered article in succession. The correlating means preferably operates such that another one of the liner sheets adheres along an exposed one of the top and bottom sides of one of the fluting sheets of the layered article corresponding to the upper and lower surface of the layered article, respectively.
