摘要:
Apparatus for the continuous extrusion of metals in which feed is introduced into a pair of circumferential grooves in a rotating wheel to contact arcuate tooling and abutments. The feed is constrained by the abutments to flow through exit apertures in a die top from the respective grooves to a substantially toroidal chamber around a hollow, open ended, portal mandrel to extrude through an annular die orifice as a cladding for a continuous core. Cooling air may be supplied to the interior of the cladding, which is subsequently swaged down on to the core. A solid mandrel may be utilized where it is desired to extrude tube.

A method of fabricating composite metal wires such as aluminium clad steel wires is disclosed which comprises providing a core of hard metal with a cladding of soft metal by extrusion. In fabricating a composite metal wire by extrusion, a core is generally aligned, polished, cleaned or otherwise pretreated before entering an extruder so that a high and variable tension is imparted to the core. By avoiding such tension variation and maintaining the core under a constant low tension and by electrically heating the core before the core enters the extruder, a composite metal wire of improved quality is fabricated in a stable manner.

A process allows the production of composite sections made of at least two component parts such as conductor rails or the like having a beam-like section with a facing in the form of a conductive metal strip. The process makes use of an extrusion die whereby at least one of the components of the composite section is fed to the die by means of frictional force on a face which moves continuously towards the die.

AN EXTRUSION PROCESS FOR FORMING CONSUMABLE ANODES AND THE PRODUCT PRODUCED THEREIN. THE PROCESS COMPRISES THE CO-EXTRUSION OF A WIRE CORE HAVING A NON-FERROUS LIGHT METAL SURFACE WITH AN OVERCOATING OF A DISSIMILAR LIGHT METAL. A SYNTHETICALLY PRODUCED NON-FERROUS METAL OXIDE LAYER IS INTERPOSED BETWEEN THE DISSIMILAR LIGHT METAL SURFACES TO REDUCE THE INCIDENCE OF CORE WIRE BREAKAGE DURING EXTRUSION OPERATIONS. IT IS BELIEVED THAT ALLOYING OF THE LIGHT METAL CORE SURFACE WITH THE DISIMILAR EXTRUDED OVERCOATING IS INIBITED BY OXIDE LAYER, THEREBY SUBSTANTIALLY ELIMINATING ADHERENCE OF A LOW MELTING, NON-FERROUS ALLOY TO THE EXTRUSION DIE. BREAKAGE OF THE CORE WIRE DURING EXTRUSION IS THEREBY MINUMIZED.

The current invention is directed to a cost effective method of manufacturing bullets or projectiles for firearms which are identifiable after firing and undergoing damage. The mass production of low cost ammunition makes adoption of a requirement that projectiles be so identifiable unlikely unless manufacturing methods and costs are not substantially disrupted. The method envisioned produces projectile bodies from rod or wire stock by encasing identification tag material, and swaging a projectile body with a wholly or partially encased tag with indicia. The stock may be extruded around premade identification tags or a recess may be reverse extruded in each slug. The tags may have repeated indicia in each projectile and some indicia may be accessible from the outside of a completed round of ammunition. The swaging process retains the identification tags which are protected by the body of the projectile for recovery after the projectile is used.

An elongated product is formed such that first a core is formed, the outer surface of the core being made of plastic. Thereafter, a tubular metal layer is extruded such that the layer is seamless. When the metal layer is extruded, a clearance is allowed between the metal layer and the core. After the metal layer has cooled, the diameter of the metal layer is reduced such that the metal layer contacts the plastic core. Thereafter, the metal is annealed such that the flexibility of the metal layer increases.

It is disclosed a process for manufacturing a fiber optic overhead ground wire cable. The process comprising the following steps: providing an optical core; providing a reinforcing structure consisting of at least one layer of wires onto the optical core, at least part of the wires being clad with a first metallic material; extruding an outer layer onto the reinforcing structure, the outer layer being made of a second metallic material having a softening point substantially similar to the softening point of the first metallic material; and cooling the outer layer immediately after extruding.

This invention utilizes a co-extrusion or co-drawing process to directly bond a tubular target to an inner backing tube. The co-extrusion or co-drawing process reduces the inner and outer diameters of the outer tubular target to cause portions of the target to protrude and at least partially fill into grooves along the inner backing tube. The filling causes the target to interlock to the backing plate.
