Abstract:
A method for performing parallel network acquisition attempts on a mobile communication device includes: retrieving mobile communication device information from a look-up table (LUT); identifying, based on the retrieved information, components of the mobile communication device that support one or more radio access technologies (RATs); allocating the components to at least some of the one or more supported RATs; and performing parallel network acquisition attempts for the at least some of the one or more supported RATs using the allocated components.
Abstract:
A method for performing one or more measurements by a mobile communication device having a first radio-frequency (RF) chain associated with a first subscription and a second RF chain associated with a second subscription includes: determining that the mobile communication device is in a connected mode on the first subscription; determining whether the second RF chain associated with the second subscription is available; and in response to determining that the second RF chain associated with the second subscription is available, utilizing the second RF chain associated with the second subscription to perform at least one of an inter-frequency measurement and an inter-radio access technology measurement on the first subscription.
Abstract:
Minimizing conflicts between different radio access technologies (RATs) is disclosed herein which include monitoring, by a user equipment (UE), a first use of a UE Radio Frequency (RF) resource by a first Radio Access Technology (RAT). The UE monitors a second use of the UE resource by a second RAT. The UE is served by a current serving cell in the second RAT. The UE may also determine a percentage of conflict between a first use of a UE resource by a first RAT and the second use of the UE resource by the second RAT over a predefined period of time, and initiating, by the UE, a cell reselection attempt to one or more neighboring cells of a plurality of neighboring cells serving the second RAT based on the determined percentage of conflict exceeding a predetermined threshold.
Abstract:
Methods and devices are disclosed for enabling improved performance for page decodes on a SIM of a multi-SIM wireless communication device in which a shared radio frequency (RF) resource is used to read system information for a different SIM. After determining that a first SIM is using the shared RF resource to decode SIBs, the wireless device may receive information about an upcoming page decode time for monitoring a paging channel associated with the second SIM. The wireless device may obtain system information block (SIB) scheduling information associated with the first SIM, and may create a RF resource release gap during the system information read period based on the SIB scheduling information and the upcoming page decode time. Control of the RF resource may be released from the modem stack associated within the first SIM, and gained by a modem stack associated with the second SIM during the RF resource release gap.
Abstract:
Embodiments include systems and methods that may be performed by a processor of a multi-subscription wireless device for managing beam selection. Various embodiments may include determining a rotation angle between an orientation of a first beam of a first subscription and an orientation of a second beam of the first subscription, applying the rotation angle to a first beam of a second subscription to identify a second beam of the second subscription, and performing a tune-away operation comprising tuning a radio frequency (RF) resource of the multi-subscription wireless device to the second subscription and configuring spatial filter parameters of an antenna array to communicate via the identified second beam of the second subscription.
Abstract:
Examples described herein relate to supplementing wireless local area network (WLAN) connection of a wireless having multiple Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs) in which at least one of the SIMs is associated with a Designated Data Service (DDS) subscription. A method includes connecting the wireless communication device with a wireless local area network (WLAN), receiving a request for transferring data, determining whether a WLAN link rate of the wireless communication device is less than a link rate threshold, transferring the data over the WLAN in response to determining that the WLAN link rate is not less than the link rate threshold, and transferring a first portion of the data over the WLAN and a second portion of the data via the DDS subscription in response to determining that the WLAN link rate is less than the link rate threshold.
Abstract:
Examples described herein relate to managing communications on a first subscription and a second subscription of a multi-Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) wireless communication device via a Radio Frequency (RF) resource, including, but not limited to, tuning the RF resource away from the second subscription to the first subscription, detecting a network-set activation state of a secondary cell associated with the first subscription, and adjusting the activation state of the secondary cell based on the network-set activation state.
Abstract:
A method includes receiving a dormancy request from an application executing at a communication device. In response to the dormancy request, a message is sent from the communication device to a radio network controller. The message indicates that a data session has ended. After expiration of a time period following sending of the message, state information is provided to the application. The state information indicates whether the communication device is in a low-power state.
Abstract:
A method for improving data throughput on a subscription includes: filtering data traffic throughput on a first subscription; comparing the filtered data traffic throughput to a threshold data rate; determining if the filtered data traffic throughput is greater than a threshold data rate value; and in response to a determination that the filtered data traffic throughput is equal to or less than the threshold data rate value, determining whether a tune away (TA) mode different than a first TA mode increases data traffic throughput on the first subscription.
