Abstract:
Various embodiments provide methods for a multi-Subscription Identity Module (SIM) wireless communication device for managing data exchanges with a network when an enhanced dedicated channel is requested on a first subscription. The methods may include performing operations during a testing phase to determine whether an enhanced dedicated channel grant is valid after a tune-away to a second subscription is completed, while transmitting data using the enhanced dedicated channel presuming that the enhanced dedicated channel grant is valid during the testing phase. The methods may include recording a list of protocol data units (PDUs) corresponding to data transmitted using the enhanced dedicated channel during the testing phase. The list of PDUs may be cleared and data exchanged with the network in response to determining that the enhanced dedicated channel grant is valid. Otherwise, the multi-SIM wireless communication device may request another enhanced dedicated channel grant.
Abstract:
An example method may include receiving a first subframe. In addition, the example method may include decoding information transmitted in the first subframe. Further, the example method may include switching to an inactive mode subsequent to the completion of the reception of the first subframe. Further still, the example method may include exiting the inactive mode and decoding downlink data transmitted in one or more second subframes in a current reception (Rx) burst time interval when the decoded information transmitted in the first subframe indicates an upcoming transmission of downlink data in the one or more second subframes.
Abstract:
Access terminals are adapted to facilitate optimized tune-away operations in multi-subscription wireless communication devices. According to one example, an access terminal can communicate on a first subscription. After a period of time, the access terminal can tune away from the first subscription to a second subscription to perform a communication activity corresponding to the second subscription. After tuning back to the first subscription, the access terminal may transmit uplink data while ignoring any absolute grant received after tuning back to the first subscription, and/or transmit a scheduling information message in response to tuning back to the first subscription from the second subscription. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.
Abstract:
The disclosure provides for a UE handling messages in wireless communication. The disclosure provides for a UE partially exchanging a first signaling-related message associated with a first UE configuration with a network entity and triggering a state transition message that initiates a change to a second UE configuration different from the first UE configuration. In an aspect, the UE determines that the first message has not been successfully received or successfully transmitted. In an aspect, the UE sends an indication message to coordinate discarding of the first message with the network entity and receives, after sending the indication message, a second signaling-related message associated with the second UE configuration. In another aspect, the UE, after partially sending a signaling-related message, receives a reconfiguration request associated with a second UE configuration. In an aspect, the UE determines that the message has not been successfully transmitted and causes a reconfiguration failure.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are described for improving call performance and data throughput. The methods and apparatus include receiving one or more packet data units (PDUs) during a transmission time interval (TTI) from a network entity, wherein the one or more PDUs are associated with a radio bearer. Further, the methods and apparatus include determining one or more out-of-order PDUs from the one or more PDUs. Moreover, the methods and apparatus include reordering the one or more out-of-order PDUs, wherein the one or more out-of-order PDUs are reordered within the TTI. Additionally, the methods and apparatus include processing the one or more reordered PDUs.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for enhanced cell update procedures are presented. In an aspect, an example method may include determining that a first cell update trigger has occurred and generating a first cell update message based on determining that the first cell update trigger has occurred. In an additional aspect, the example method may include determining that a second cell update trigger has occurred subsequent to the first cell update trigger and generating a second cell update message based on determining that the second cell update trigger has occurred. Furthermore, the example method may include determining that at least a portion of the first cell update message is pending transmission at a time that the second cell update message is generated, discarding the first cell update message, and transmitting the second cell update message to a network entity.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure provide for a method and an apparatus for wireless communications using an intelligent Random Access Channel (RACH) procedure that may increase the probability of obtaining an available E-DCH resource quickly in a Universal Mobile Telecommunication System.
Abstract:
Disclosed are systems and methods for continuous inter-frequency measurement reconfigurations in a DC-HSUPA User Equipment (UE). In one aspect, the system may configure the UE to perform intra-frequency measurements on a frequency f1 and inter-frequency measurements on a frequency f2 in a dual carrier (DC) downlink (DL) mode and a single carrier (SC) uplink (UL) mode. The system may then reconfigure the UE to operate in a DC UL mode and continuing to perform inter-frequency measurements on the frequency f2 in the DC UL mode. The system may then reconfigure the UE to operate in the SC UL mode and continuing to perform inter-frequency measurements on frequency f2 in the SC UL mode.
Abstract:
Data is selectively transmitted over one or more carriers of a set of carriers. According to some aspects of the disclosure, a decision may be made to forgo the transmission of a preamble via one of the carriers (e.g., channels). For example, in a multi-carrier system, transmission of a preamble via one carrier may be inhibited if all of the data can be transmitted via another carrier. According to some aspects of the disclosure, a decision may be made to transmit different types of data on a single carrier rather than on multiple carriers. For example, a single carrier may be used to transmit schedule data and non-scheduled data if all of the data can be transmitted on one of the carriers (e.g., during a single transmission time interval). In this case, transmission of a preamble on another one of the carriers may therefore be inhibited.
