Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a method of operating a user equipment for wireless communication with a network. In some aspects, the UE establishes a connection to a network and obtains a control plane message from the network. The control plane message may include one or more types of policy information if a size of the one or more types of policy information is less than or equal to a maximum payload size of the control plane message, or information indicating at least a network location from where the one or more types of policy information may be obtained by the UE over a user plane if the size of the one or more types of policy information is greater than the maximum payload size of the control plane message, or a combination thereof. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

A method operable at a serving node may include receiving a connection request message from the RAN node. The connection request message may be configured to establish communication with the UE and may include a service profile corresponding to the UE.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides techniques that may be applied, for example, in a multi-slice network for maintaining privacy when attempting to access the network. An exemplary method generally includes transmitting a registration request message to a serving network to register with the serving network; receiving a first confirmation message indicating a secure connection with the serving network has been established; transmitting, after receiving the first confirmation message, a secure message to the serving network comprising an indication of at least one configured network slice that the UE wants to communicate over, wherein the at least one configured network slice is associated with a privacy flag that is set; and receiving a second confirmation message from the serving network indicating that the UE is permitted to communicate over the at least one configured network slice.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device transmits an indication of whether the device should be paged over a 3GPP access when a core network has data ready to transmit for PDU sessions over a non-3GPP access. A session management function (SMF) of the core network receives a data notification indicating that the core network has data ready to transmit to the wireless device for a PDU session over the non-3GPP access. The SMF determines whether to transmit a paging request to an access and mobility management function (AMF) of the core network based on a paging state of the SMG, a paging state of the wireless device, or a connection management idleness state of the wireless device. The AMF determines whether to transmit a paging message to the wireless device.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may identify a bearer (e.g., a default bearer) and request establishment of a second bearer (e.g., a high priority bearer) for use in streaming downlink data from, for example, an application server. The UE may determine a status of a playout buffer and select the first bearer or the second bearer for use in streaming the downlink data associated with the application based on the status of the playout buffer. For example, the first bearer may be used be used by default, and the second bearer may be selected if the amount of data in the playout buffer does not satisfy (e.g., is below) a threshold. In some cases, each bearer may be associated with a transmission control protocol (TCP) port associated with a TCP connection. In some cases, each bearer may be associated with different Internet protocol (IP) address.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to mechanisms for interworking between legacy and next generation radio access technologies (RATs) in a communication network. In some examples, a handover from a legacy access network to a next generation access network may be performed via a next generation core network. A handover request received at a next generation core network serving node may include an identifier of a next generation target cell. The next generation core network serving node may identify another next generation core network serving node to which the handover may be forwarded based on the target cell identifier or may select the next generation access network based on the target cell identifier. The next generation core network serving node may then communicate with the next generation access network to complete the handover.

Abstract: In one or more mobile stations of a wireless communication network, a method for network node selection in a wireless communication system by a mobile entity may include receiving, from a home network, a message comprising a policy associated with network node selection, determining whether the home network policy has precedence over a policy of a visited network based on the message, and selecting a network node based on the policy of the home network, in response to determining the home network policy has precedence over the visited network policy. The policy may include at least one of mobility or routing policies. The message may include an indication of precedence between the home network and one or more visited networks. A communication apparatus, for example a mobile entity, may be configured for performing these and other aspects of the method.

Abstract: In aspects of the disclosure, a method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. In one aspect, the apparatus determines if a connection to a PLMN has been established. In another aspect, the apparatus builds a FQDN based on the determination by attempting to build the FQDN using each of the prioritized FQDNs in order of priority until the FQDN is built, building the FQDN using a PLMN ID of the PLMN if it is determined that the PLMN is found in the list, or building the FQDN based on the wildcard PLMN if it is determined that the list comprises the wildcard PLMN. Further still, the apparatus selects an ePDG based on the FQDN.

Abstract: Mobile devices may receive page transmissions that include information related to a service for which the mobile device is being paged. The mobile device may be provided with a policy that describes a priority of radio access technologies (RATs) based on the type of service for which the mobile device is being paged. The mobile device, based at least in part on the service information, may access one or more of the wireless communications networks based on the identified service and/or based on the policy. A page transmission may include an indication of a RAT that is to be used for the page response and/or an index into the policy. A base station that transmits a page transmission may include an identifier of a particular network that is to be accessed in response to the page.

Abstract: A method, operational at a network device, for conveying congestion information across different strata of a multi-strata network is provided. An indication is obtained that a congestion level for at least one of a radio access network node and a core network node of a network has changed. Consequently, a one or more service parameters for a plurality of services, operating at a service stratum, are updated or adjusted on a per service basis based on the congestion level indication.
