Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a trigger for the UE to perform a RACH procedure to access a network slice (e.g., service). The UE may receive, from a base station, a random access configuration for performance, by the UE, of random access with a physical network. The UE may identify a network slice to be accessed by the UE, where the network slice may be supported by a logical network associated with the physical network. The UE may select a slice-based random access procedure (e.g., two-step slice-based random access procedure, four-step slice-based random access procedure) based on the random access configuration and the network slice to be accessed by the UE. Abstract: User equipments (UEs) with reduced capabilities may need a relaxed processing timeline relative to standard UEs. The relaxed processing timeline may provide UEs with reduced capabilities an appropriate amount of time (e.g., during a random access procedure) to decode messages from a base station (BS) and/or to prepare uplink messages. Aspects of the disclosure relate to a UE configured to transmit a message to a serving BS, the message including a request for timeline relaxation for transmission of a subsequent message, the message and the subsequent message being associated with a random access procedure. The UE may receive a response message associated with the random access procedure and indicating one or more timing offsets corresponding to the timeline relaxation. The UE may transmit the subsequent message to the serving BS based on the one or more timing offsets indicated by the serving BS. The subsequent message acknowledges the response message.

In some wireless communications system, a base station may schedule multiple user equipment (UEs) for unicast transmissions using a single downlink control information (DCI) format. For example, a first UE may receive, from a base station, DCI that includes unicast scheduling information for multiple UEs including the first UE. The first UE may determine, from the unicast scheduling information, a set of resources on which to communicate data with the base station. In such cases, the UE may transmit or receive data transmissions using the determined set of resources. In some examples, each UE of the multiple UEs may determine respective sets of resources based on one or more UE-specific transformation rules applied to common scheduling parameters of the DCI.
