Abstract: Techniques described herein are directed toward enabling location support for 5G New Radio (NR) wireless access by a user equipment (UE) by utilizing existing LTE location support. More specifically, LTE positioning protocol (LPP) messages may be communicated between a UE with NR wireless access and a location server (e.g. an LMF) in a 5G Core Network via an NG-RAN. The LPP messages may support RAT-independent and E-UTRA position methods by the UE such as A-GNSS or OTDOA for E-UTRA. The location server may obtain OTDOA related information from eNBs and ng-eNBs supporting LTE wireless access. A UE may request measurement gaps from a 5G base station (e.g. gNB) in order to obtain measurements for RAT-independent and E-UTRA position methods and may request an idle period in order to obtain LTE timing needed for E-UTRA measurements.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product are provided. The apparatus may be a UE configured to receive from a base station access parameters corresponding to respective types of access controls for different types of data services, receive a TFT established at a core network based on mapping a packet filter to access control information for each type of access control, receive a data packet from an application, match the data packet to the packet filter to determine access control information corresponding to the data packet, and establish communication for the data packet based on access parameters for the determined access control information. Alternatively, the apparatus may be policy server configured to receive a request for traffic control regarding data being communicated to an application server, determine a policy update for the application server based on the request, and transmit the policy update to a UE.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to providing an indication that a user equipment (UE) is within coverage by a particular network are provided. An example method of wireless communications obtaining, by a first wireless communication device from a second device associated with a second network, information regarding whether the first wireless communication device is within coverage by a first network. The first wireless communication device supports dual connectivity with the first network and the second network. The method also includes determining, based at least in part on the information, whether to display an icon indicating that the first wireless communication device is connected to the first network. The method further includes in response to a determination to display the icon, displaying, by the first wireless communication device, the icon on a display coupled to the first wireless communication device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Relocation of a user plane may be minimized through the exchange of communication session information between network nodes. For example, a connectivity session manager and an access and mobility manager may exchange information associated with a user equipment (UE) communication session to prevent unnecessary reestablishment of an existing communication session. In such cases, the access and mobility manager may receive a session management request from a UE and send a request including the session management request to the connectivity session manager. Based on the received message, the connectivity session manager may identify a continuity mode, select a user plane anchor for the communication session, and send a response message to the access and mobility manager. In some examples, the connectivity session manager and the access and mobility manager may exchange session area codes associated with the location of the UE.

The apparatus also receives a multicast device-to-device communication including the destination identifier. The apparatus differentiates the unicast device-to-device communication from the multicast device-to-device communication based on information provided in a header of the unicast device-to-device communication.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that supports connectivity to a core network via an access network. A user equipment (UE) may establish connectivity with an access network and perform a discovery procedure to identify and select a packet data gateway that provides connectivity to a core network via a core network node. The UE may perform an authentication procedure with the core network node via the packet data gateway to be authenticated with the core network for establishing connectivity with the packet data gateway. The UE may receive a set of control plane addressing information via the packet data gateway corresponding to a secure tunnel established between the UE and the packet data gateway. The UE may perform an attach procedure via the secure tunnel with the core network node without re-authenticating the UE.
