Abstract: Disclosed herein are a video decoding method and apparatus and a video encoding method and apparatus. In the encoding and decoding of a video, a prediction mode may be selected from among multiple prediction modes using prediction mode information for a target block, and prediction may be performed on the target block based on the selected prediction mode, wherein the prediction mode information includes information related to a reference block, and wherein the reference block comprises one or more of a spatially neighboring block that is spatially adjacent to the target block and a temporally neighboring block that is temporally adjacent to the target block. When the selected prediction mode includes a plurality of prediction modes, a prediction mode to be used for prediction of the target block may be decided on among the plurality of selected prediction modes through signaling of the prediction mode decision information.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a decoding method and apparatus and an encoding method and apparatus for deriving an intra-prediction mode. An intra-prediction mode may be derived using a method for deriving an intra-prediction mode based on a neighbor block of the target block, a method for deriving an intra-prediction mode using signaling of the intra-prediction mode of the target block, or a method for deriving an adaptive intra-prediction mode based on the type of a target slice. An MPM list may be used to derive the intra-prediction mode, and a temporal neighbor block or the like may be used to configure the MPM list.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a video decoding method and apparatus and a video encoding method and apparatus, and more particularly, a method and apparatus for performing filtering in video encoding and decoding. An encoding apparatus may perform filtering on a target, and may generate filtering information indicating whether filtering has been performed on the target. Further, the encoding apparatus may generate a bitstream including filtering information. A decoding apparatus may determine, based on filtering information, whether to perform filtering on a target, and may perform filtering on the target. The decoding apparatus may receive filtering information from the encoding apparatus through a bitstream or may derive filtering information using additional information.
