Abstract: A surgical device includes one or more cameras integrated therein. The view of each of the one or more cameras can be integrated together and provided to a surgeon display and/or an assistant display. A surgical tool that includes an integrated camera may be used in conjunction with the surgical device. The image produced by the camera integrated with the surgical tool may be associated with the images generated by the one or more cameras integrated in the surgical device. The position and orientation of the cameras and/or the surgical tool can be tracked, and the surgical tool can be rendered as at least partially transparent. A surgical device may be powered by a hydraulic system, thereby reducing electromagnetic interference with tracking devices.

Abstract: A light source includes features configured to compensate for discontinuous solid state sources. The light source can produce a wide color gamut in display, and improved color rendering of tissue under observation by phosphor gap filling with colored LEDs. The light source can include provisions to depart from a white light spectrum to heighten differences in anatomical features or functions. The light source can include provisions to introduce narrow-band solid-state sources for producing false-color and pseudo-color images, with variable color rendering to change the power spectral distribution and to compensate for fiber optic length and fiber optic diameter tip sensing.

Abstract: An illumination device can include a plurality of light sources, a first beam combiner, and a plurality of filters. The plurality of light sources can include first and second light sources configured to generate first and second light beams respectively. The first beam combiner can be configured to receive light from the first and second light sources and combine the first and second light beams to generate a composite light beam. The plurality of filters can include a first filter configured to controllably adjust a spectral power distribution of the first light beam incident on the first filter and a second filter configured to controllably adjust a spectral power distribution of the second light beam incident on the second filter. The first and second filters can be configured to be tuned to alter the spectral power distribution of the first and second light beams.
