A humeral fracture fixation system is provided and includes a nail-plate fixation device having a plate-like head portion, an intramedullary nail portion, and a bent neck portion therebetween which creates an angle between the plate and nail portions. The upper surface of the nail portion is substantially straight for contact with the endosteum and the nail portion includes threaded holes for machine screws. The head portion includes locking holes for receiving fixed-angle bone support elements, and K-wire alignment holes. The front of the head portion includes suture holes while presenting a smooth profile. A specific implantation jig and screw guide cannula are also provided.
Abstract:
A semiconductor wafer holder (12) and process eliminating the need for wafer mounting using sticky tape, UV exposure, and manual de-taping from sticky tape during processing and inspection. The present invention comprises a semiconductor holder having an opening (14) securely receiving a semiconductor wafer (16) about its edges in an interference fit. The holder securely holds the wafer in place during handling, and without the need for using sticky tape to hold the wafer backside to a wafer tray (30). The wafer holder is utilized as an insert that is concentric to the wafer tray, which tray includes a perforated film (32) having vacuum openings (34). Advantageously, sticky tape is only interposed between the wafer holder (12) and a perimiter of the wafer holder (30), which sticky tape is later removed using UV exposure.

Pyrolyzing gasification system and method of use including primary combustion of non-uniform solid fuels such as biomass and solid wastes within a refractory lined gasifier, secondary combustion of primary combustion gas within a staged, cyclonic, refractory lined oxidizer, and heat energy recovery from the oxidized flue gas within an indirect air-to-air all-ceramic heat exchanger or external combustion engine. Primary combustion occurs at low substoichoimetric air percentages of 10-30 percent and at temperatures below 1000 degrees F. Secondary combustion is staged and controlled for low NOx formation and prevention of formation of CO, hydrocarbons, and VOCs. The gasifier includes a furnace bed segmented into individual cells, each cell is independently monitored using a ramp temperature probe, and provided with controlled air injection. Gasifier air injection includes tuyere arrays, lances, or both. The oxidizer includes three serially aligned stages separated by air injecting baffles, and ability to adjust the exit air temperature.
Abstract:
A monolithic refractory ceramic tube sheet for use in all-ceramic air-to-air indirect heat exchangers, the heat exchanger used in medium to high temperature, and high pressure applications. A method for forming the monolithic tube sheet includes-casting a refractory ceramic in a mold, where portions of the mold comprise the housing of the heat exchanger. Precisely formed negatives are used to form through channels and vacancies within the tube sheet, which are precisely positioned within the mold allowing uniform and flush formation of openings that receive the ceramic tubes therein. The same mold is used to provide both tube sheets of a tube sheet pair allowing accurate alignment of tubes within the exchanger vessel resulting in ease of assembly and equal loading of tubes when in use.

An antenna means for transmitting and/or receiving RF signals, a radio communication system and a method for manufacturing a radiating structure. The antenna means comprises a conductive structure (10) extending between first and second opposite edges (11, 12), and a feed portion. The conductive structure (10) is formed to a radiating structure (1) partially enclosing a volume, and the first and second edges (11, 12) are located at a distance from each other forming a radiating first slit (21), which has a first and a second open end. Hereby an antenna means, which can be made compact, and can operate in more than one frequency band is obtained. A second slit can be arranged to improve the operation in a higher frequency band. The radio communication system comprises transmitting/receiving circuits connected to an such antenna means.

For use with a vehicle, a combination unit includes a fluid storage chamber for storing fluids such as windshield washer fluid and an acoustic resonance chamber for attenuating vehicle air intake noises. The fluid storage container and the acoustic resonance chamber are hingedly attached and define there between an airflow cavity for housing the vehicle air filter with suitable ducting to direct ambient air through the filter and into the engine intake system.

A portable device for rapidly inflating an inflatable bag is disclosed, which comprises at least one inlet intended to be connected to a source of compressed gas, in order to allow this gas to expand into an air intake chamber, the inlet being associated with a mechanism that triggers the release of the compressed gas to the air intake chamber, the latter having an opening allowing atmospheric air to be admitted and an outlet intended to be connected to the bag that is to be inflated. The device further comprises an intermediate distribution chamber for the compressed gas, which chamber is arranged between the inlet and the air intake chamber in order to connect the one to the other, and ejection holes arranged so as to open into a lateral wall of the air intake chamber in order to connect the latter to the intermediate distribution chamber.

A fracture fixation plate system for use on a long bone having a metaphysis and a diaphysis, includes at least one end plate having a head portion for the metaphysis, and at least one diaphyseal plate having a first end and a second end with a plurality of screw holes therebetween. The end plate includes mating structure adapted to mate with and securely couple to at least one end of the at least one diaphyseal plate. The system preferably includes several end plates and diaphyseal plates to accommodate anatomy of various sizes.

A plate holder is provided to facilitate percutaneous introduction of a bone plate, positioning of the plate on a bone surface, and stabilizing the plate while a fastener is inserted through the plate into the bone. The plate holder includes a proximal handle, a distal mount, and an arm extending between the handle and the mount. The mount includes a first portion which seats within a slot on the shaft of a plate, and a second portion at which the shaft is coupled and which includes a tapered proximal side. A set screw hole is provided through the first and second portions, and a set screw is provided therein. When the first portion is seated in a compression slot of a plate and the set screw is driven to seat, the set screw locks the mount to the plate.
