    Abstract: User equipment devices (UEs) and methods are described for performing single network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAI)-aware public land mobile network (PLMN) selection in a roaming scenario. A mapping list is received that includes a mapping of a plurality of public land mobile networks (PLMNs) to corresponding S-NSSAI values. The mapping list is received from a home PLMN (HPLMN) of the UE over non-3rd generation partnership (non-3GPP) access, from a server, or from a Universal Mobile Telecommunications Service (UMTS) subscriber identity module (USIM) of the UE. An available PLMN is determined that is mapped to a preferred S-NSSAI value of the UE based on the mapping list. A connection is established with the available PLMN.

    Abstract: Some aspects of this disclosure relate to apparatuses and methods for implementing techniques for support recovering service in a radio access technology (RAT) for a multi-mode user equipment (UE). The UE can be registered to communicate in a first RAT, and the UE is in an idle mode, and the UE is in a disable mode with respect to communication in the second RAT. A cell selection for the second RAT can be performed. Afterwards, a registration procedure with a wireless communication system to communicate in the second RAT can be performed. Hence, the UE can receive wireless service from the wireless communication system through a base station associated with the second RAT.

One example embodiment is a UE device configured to: transmit a registration request message to request registration on a set of requested network slices; and receive a registration accept message indicating the UE is registered to a set of allowed network slices, and wherein the registration accept message indicates slice compatibility information for each allowed network slice of the set of allowed network slices for the UE, wherein the slice compatibility information for each allowed network slice indicates whether or not other configured network slices of the set of configured network slices are compatible with the configured network slice for simultaneous operation by the UE.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for managing synchronization of protocol data unit (PDU) sessions between a user equipment (UE) and a network are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a determination of whether a message comprising a PDU session status information element (IE) should be sent is based on previous messaging between peer entities of the network. In some embodiments, a determination that the peer entity is informed of a relevant PDU session status is made after expected reply messaging is received in response to prior messaging. In some cases, a reply message without a PDU session status IE is sent from one entity to a peer entity when it is determined that each entity has a matching PDU session status. Cases involving failures detected at the network, and cases where an entity activates a data radio bearer (DRB) of a PDU session that is inactive at its peer are also discussed.
