Abstract: A method includes obtaining, at a first conference endpoint device, spoken command data representing a spoken command detected by the first conference endpoint device during a teleconference between the first conference endpoint device and a second conference endpoint device. The method further includes generating modified spoken command data by inserting a spoken phrase into the spoken command. The method further includes transmitting the modified spoken command data to a natural language service.

Abstract: The spectral response of an omnidirectional microphone is used as a reference. This reference is compared to the spectral response of each directional microphone to develop scale factors that are applied to the directional microphone spectral response to perform spectral equalization. The outputs of the omnidirectional microphone and the directional microphones are decomposed into a series of sub-bands and the comparison and equalization is done for each sub-band. The equalized sub-bands are then converted into a time domain signal for further processing by the conference phone or video conference system.

Abstract: A system for ensuring that the best available view of a person's face is included in a video stream when the person's face is being captured by multiple cameras at multiple angles at a first endpoint. The system uses one or more microphone arrays to capture direct-reverberant ratio information corresponding to the views, and determines which view most closely matches a view of the person looking directly at the camera, thereby improving the experience for viewers at a second endpoint.

Abstract: A presentation system capable of detecting one or more gestures and contacts on a touch sensitive display. The presentation system can displaying indicia of such contacts, such as when a user writes with a fingertip, and can remove or alter such indicia responsive to other gestures and contacts. The system can accurately distinguish between types of gestures detected, such as between a writing gesture and an erasing gesture, on both large and small touch sensitive displays, thereby obviating the need for a user to make additional selective inputs to transition from one type of gesture to another.

Abstract: A videoconferencing system has a videoconferencing unit that use portable devices as peripherals for the system. The portable devices obtain near-end audio and send the audio to the videoconferencing unit via a wireless connection. In turn, the videoconferencing unit sends the near-end audio from the loudest portable device along with near-end video to the far-end. The portable devices can control the videoconferencing unit and can initially establish the videoconference by connecting with the far-end and then transferring operations to the videoconferencing unit. To deal with acoustic coupling between the unit's loudspeaker and the portable device's microphone, the unit uses an echo canceller that is compensated for differences in the clocks used in the A/D and D/A converters of the loudspeaker and microphone.

Abstract: A conferencing endpoint includes a loudspeaker, a base microphone, and a double-talk detection module which allows two-way communication between the conferencing endpoint and a remote endpoint only when participants at both endpoints are speaking at the same time, so as to minimize echo due to feedback. The double-talk detection module adds the energy of any distortion from the loudspeaker to the energy of the signal coming from the remote endpoint, and compares this combined energy with the energy of the base microphone to determine whether double-talk is present. The double-talk detection module is thus prevented from mistaking the feedback for near end talk at the endpoint.

Abstract: Systems and methods for holistically modelling audio feedback and removing the entire feedback signal corresponding thereto. The systems can operate at a much larger loop-gain (and hence with a much higher loudspeaker volume), than those conventional systems which seek to remove singing frequencies with PEQs. The systems are an improvement over traditional audio feedback elimination systems which attempt to reduce the effect of the audio feedback by simply scaling down the audio volume of the signal frequencies that are prone to howling, and those feedback elimination systems which simply employ adaptive notch filtering to detect and “notch” the so-called “singing” or “howling” frequencies as they occur in real-time. Such devices may typically have several knobs and buttons needing tuning, for example: the number of adaptive parametric equalizers (PEQs) versus fixed PEQs; attack and decay timers; and/or PEQ bandwidth. The systems set forth herein obviate the need for tuning knobs or buttons, making set up easy.

Abstract: Techniques of audio-video synchronization that can be performed on audio and video streams are described. In one scenario, a processor can receive audio-video information comprising a video stream and an audio stream. Each of the video and audio streams can include one or more of: a compressed stream; and a decoded stream. A region of motion in the video stream can be determined based on a property of the video stream. A video signal can be generated based on the determined region of motion. Also, a relative delay between the streams can be determined based, at least in part, on the generated video signal. A delay value associated with one or more of the audio and video streams may be adjusted to assist with synchronizing the audio and video streams.
