Abstract:
A method of granting a client device remote access to a media server after receiving a port request from a remote client device at a residential gateway through an intermediate remote access control server by opening one or more wide area network ports temporarily mapped to local area network ports, such that the remote client device can communicate with the media server through the wide area network ports, transmitting a list of the one or more wide area network ports to the remote client device through the remote access control server, receiving a media content request from the remote client device and passing the media content request to the media server through the one or more wide area network ports, and passing media content from the media server to the remote client device through the one or more wide area network ports according to one or more restriction lists.
Abstract:
The present systems and processes are directed to bridging telephone communications, such that a SIP communication server is able to communicate with the legacy PBX or key system interface for interworking connectivity of the devices. A bidirectional emulator module is provided permitting a communication session with legacy analog device and/or digital device. In certain embodiments, analog and digital telephones are registered with the emulator. An external telephone system such as a SIP communication server is also registered. A line dictionary contains the communication protocols of the analog and digital telephones and external telephone system. Outgoing line traffic and incoming line traffic are monitored in real-time, where the emulator module translates the user requests and line traffic according to the respective communication protocol data retrieved from the line dictionary.
Abstract:
This application discloses a policy control method, including: after a gateway is connected to a network, receiving a first gateway access identifier; selecting a PCRF entity for the gateway accordingly, and establishing a first session for the gateway to implement policy control on the gateway; when a mobile terminal or a fixed-line device is connected to the network through the gateway to perform service data flow access, receiving a second gateway access identifier; if the second gateway access identifier and the first gateway access identifier are the same, selecting, for a service data flow of the mobile terminal or the fixed-line device, a same PCRF entity, and establishing a second session to implement policy control on the service data flow of the mobile terminal or the fixed-line device. The foregoing manner is used to prevent incorrect policy control from causing an exception.
Abstract:
A communications system and method is configured to provide multimedia services utilizing a signaling protocol such as a session initiated protocol (SIP), via a local access network. The method includes providing a local proxy having an internet protocol (IP) address, wherein the local proxy is integrated with the local access network. The method further includes providing a client device having a signaling protocol client, wherein the client device is coupled to a remote access network that is external to the local access network. Additionally, the method includes initiating a session by the client device accessing the IP address of the local proxy.
Abstract:
A method and system are provided in which a content request may be received by a broadband gateway from a device connected to the broadband gateway through a home network. The broadband gateway may select content that corresponds to the request from content that is available through a network access service provider and/or from other devices in the home network. The selection of the content corresponding to the request may be based on capability information of the device. The capability information may comprise display, audio reproduction, encoding, decoding, and/or storage capabilities, for example. The selection may be based on an optimization associated with a bandwidth to transfer the content within the home network and/or a power consumed to process the content. The content that is selected may be received and processed by the broadband gateway, and/or by another device in the home network, before being communicated to the device.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provides devices, systems and methods that overcome certain deficiencies in the prior art. One exemplary embodiment of the invention comprises an integrated system for providing video and data services to a customer premises. The integrated system comprises a digital broadcast satellite receiver, a data source, and an integrated network interface device. The integrated network interface device can be coupled to the receiver and/or the data source, and the integrated network interface device can be configured to receive video information from the receiver and data (e.g. Internet Protocol data) from the data source. In accordance with certain embodiments, the integrated network interface device can further be configured to distribute the data to the customer premises via a first internal transport medium and/or distribute the video information to the customer premises via a second internal transport medium. In one aspect, network interference devices can be attached to an external wall of customer premises.
Abstract:
Various embodiments provide methods and systems operable to provide access to real time control protocol (RTCP) information for improved media quality control. An example embodiment includes a message processor to receive a message, the message including information indicative of an RTP port identifier, and to add to the received message information indicative of an auxiliary RTCP port identifier; and a message communication component to communicate the information indicative of an auxiliary RTCP port identifier to a node.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus provide multiple telephone lines using a single directory number. A method and apparatus associate multiple directory numbers with multiple telephone lines. A broadband residential gateway (BRG) is a user interface to a broadband communication system providing packetized telephone service and other media services. The BRG can provide greeting and message features. A greeting may instruct a caller to select a name or extension which is associated with a party the caller is attempting to reach. Also, a message, played after the greeting, may further instruct the caller.
Abstract:
A method for encrypting application layer packets, including UDPTL data used by T.38 FOIP devices, for securing transmission of Fax communications over the Internet. In one embodiment, a client side SIPCryptAgent is provided and operably installed on the user's Fax or Voice over IP server/device. Similarly, a server side SIPCryptAgent is installed on the SBC servers at the service provider. The client side SIPCryptAgent acts as a proxy for the Fax device thereby receiving all data sent out by the Fax device and encrypting the SIP and media packets of the Fax device using a lightweight protocol before sending them to the SBC servers. Similarly, the server side acts as a proxy for the SBC servers and encrypts outgoing data and decrypts incoming data so that the exchange of data over the Internet between the client side CryptAgent and the server side CryptAgent is done in a secure, encrypted and real time manner.
