Abstract: A method of classifying a cerebrovascular branch in cerebrovascular image is disclosed, the method including receiving, by an analysis device, an cerebrovascular image of a subject; extracting, by the analysis device, a plurality of vascular unit structures from the cerebrovascular image based on geometric features of a 3D model; extracting, by the analysis device, feature values for each of the plurality of vascular unit structures; inputting, by the analysis device, the feature values of each of the plurality of vascular unit structures into a first learning model trained in advance, and classifying chunks to which each of the plurality of vascular unit structures belongs; and inputting, by the analysis device, the feature values of each of the vascular unit structures belonging to same chunk into a second learning model trained in advance, and classifying a vessel branch composed of the vascular unit structures belonging to the same chunk.

Abstract: A method and system for automatically inferring a subject's body position in a two-dimensional image produced by a medical-imaging system are disclosed. The image is labeled with a body position selected from a semantically meaningful set of candidate positions sequenced in order of their relative locations in a subject's body. A processor performs procedures that each identify a class of image features related to pixel intensity, such as a histogram of gradients, local binary patterns, or Haar-like features. A second set of procedures employs applications of a pretrained convolutional neural network that has learned to recognize features of a specific class of medical images. The results of both types of procedures are then mapped by a pretrained support-vector machine onto candidate image labels, which are mathematically combined into a single, semantically meaningful, label most likely to identify a body position of the subject shown by the image.

Abstract: Described herein are methods and apparatuses to obtain an image, or a set of images, of a patient's teeth from one or more predetermined viewing angles. These methods and apparatuses may include the use an overlay comprising an outline of teeth for each predetermined viewing angle. The overlay may be used for automatically capturing, focusing and/or illuminating the teeth. Also described herein are methods and apparatuses for using a series of images of the patient's teeth including a set of predetermined views to determine if a patient is a candidate for an orthopedic procedure.

Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying sequence information from measurements made on single nucleic acid molecules are disclosed. The systems and methods can include binding portions of nucleic acid molecules with marker molecules, such as fluorescent molecules and/or intercalating molecules. The marker molecules provide a detectable signal that includes information about the underlying genomic information of the location on the nucleic acid molecule where a given marker molecule is bound. A profile of the detectable signal along a position of the nucleic acid is acquired for multiple different nucleic acid molecules. The PRIMR algorithm processes the data to provide a consensus profile from which a consensus underlying genomic information can be determined.

Abstract: A CPU acquires a radiographic image obtained by imaging an imaging region where a patient is present, with a radioscopy apparatus using radiation emitted from a radiation source and applied to an irradiation field adjusted by a collimator. The CPU specifies a structure image that is included in the radiographic image and represents a structure of a specific shape having transmittance of radiation lower than the patient, based on the specific shape. The CPU executes image processing corresponding to the structure image on a patient image region imaged by a radioscopy apparatus in a case where an irradiation field excluding a position of the structure is set as the irradiation field, in a region in the radiographic image.

Abstract: Techniques are described for generating mono-modality training image data from multi-modality image data and using the mono-modality training image data to train and develop mono-modality image inferencing models. A method embodiment comprises generating, by a system comprising a processor, a synthetic 2D image from a 3D image of a first capture modality, wherein the synthetic 2D image corresponds to a 2D version of the 3D image in a second capture modality, and wherein the 3D image and the synthetic 2D image depict a same anatomical region of a same patient. The method further comprises transferring, by the system, ground truth data for the 3D image to the synthetic 2D image. In some embodiments, the method further comprises employing the synthetic 2D image to facilitate transfer of the ground truth data to a native 2D image captured of the same anatomical region of the same patient using the second capture modality.

Abstract: A method for dental treatment may include receiving photos capturing a state of a patient's dentition of a patient at a specific time, retrieving a first treatment plan to treat the patient's dentition, identifying an intended arrangement of the first treatment plan at the specific time, evaluating the photo parameters of the photos to generate alignment data to align the intended arrangement of the first treatment plan and the photos, generating an alignment mesh using the alignment data, the alignment mesh comprising a three-dimensional (3D) mesh representation of the patient's dentition at the specific time, performing an evaluation of the first treatment plan for modifications using the alignment mesh, and identifying proposed modifications to the first treatment plan based on the evaluation.

The dataset type indicates a use of the medical slide image and is designated as one of a plurality of uses including a training use of a medical learning model and a validation use of the machine learning model.
