    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device such as a user equipment (UE) may include multiple antenna arrays used to support wireless communications. The antenna arrays may be located at different parts of the UE and may allow the UE to flexibly perform beamforming communications. The antenna arrays maybe configured as antenna sets, and the size of each antenna set may vary based on the configuration of the UE. For example, a UE may include a foldable display having multiple foldable display units, and the communication parameters used for transmission and reception of signals via the antenna arrays may depend on the configuration of the foldable display units. In some aspects, a state of the foldable display units or the arrangement of the antenna arrays relative to one another may be used to configure and perform beamforming communications between the UE and a base station.

    Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to mitigation of calibration errors are provided. A base station (BS) transmits, via an antenna array including a plurality of antenna elements, a first communication signal using a first number of the plurality of antenna elements and a first transmission power level to a user equipment (UE). The BS receives from at least one UE, a measurement report based on the first communication signal. The BS transmitting a second communication signal using a second number of the plurality of antenna elements and a second transmission power level based on the one or more measurement reports. At least one of the first number of the plurality of antenna elements is different from the second number of the plurality of antenna elements, or the first transmission power level is different from the second transmission power level. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

    Abstract: Aspects described herein relate to determining multiple waveforms for transmitting wireless communications. A control waveform can be determined for transmitting a control information transmission related to a data transmission as one of multiple waveforms. A data waveform can be determined for transmitting the data transmission as one of the multiple waveforms. The control information transmission can be transmitted based on the control waveform, and the data transmission can be transmitted based on the data waveform.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described, where a wireless communications system may be configured to support an evaluation of beam correlation, such as a correlation of reception directionality, in different component carriers that may be in the same frequency band or in different frequency bands. For example, a first device may simultaneously transmit different reference signals using different component carriers, and a second device may receive the different reference signals. The second device may determine a beam correlation metric, which may include various measures of how well-correlated the receive directions or codebooks are for the different reference signals of the different bands. Such an evaluation may be used to support various configurations of the first device and the second device related to inter-band or intra-band carrier aggregation.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a first wireless device, such as a user equipment (UE), may select a set of different groups of antenna elements that are preferred for use in millimeter wave communications at the first wireless device. The first wireless device may provide an indication of the set of different groups of antenna elements to a second wireless device, such as a base station. The second wireless device may initiate a beam training based on the set of different groups of antenna elements in order to establish one or more beams to be used for communications using one or more of the different groups of antenna elements that were indicated by the first wireless device.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that allow for a first user equipment (UE) to forward a transmission from a second UE to a base station. The forwarding techniques may include the first UE performing a decoding procedure on a message received from the second UE via a sidelink communications link. Based on the results of the decoding procedure, the first UE may select an amplify and forward (AF), decode and forward (DF), or a combination thereof to forward the message from the second UE to the base station. The base station may receive the forward messages and, in some cases, a message directly from the second UE, and may determine decoding weights to use to jointly decode the two messages received at the base station.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a first device and a second device may communicate over a communication link using a set of antenna elements. The first device may identify one or more antenna array reconfiguration trigger conditions and may correspondingly select a first subset of antenna elements for operation. The first device may transmit a message to the second device including an indication of the antenna array reconfiguration at the first device, a request for the second device to modify the second device's antenna array configuration, or both. The second device may receive the message and, based on the indication or the request, may modify its antenna array configuration. For example, the second device may select a second subset of antenna elements based on the selected first subset of antenna elements. The devices may communicate using their modified antenna array configurations.

    Abstract: A method for adjusting communication symbol sub-carrier frequency spacing based on a communication symbol priority at a communication beam transition location includes identifying a communication beam transition location in time in a communication transmission time interval (TTI) where a communication beam transition will occur, and determining a configuration of a communication symbol at least partly based on the identified communication beam transition location and a priority of the communication symbol. The configuration may comprise an extended guard period created by adjusting the sub-carrier frequency spacing of at least one of the symbols that occurs at least one of immediately following the communication beam transition location and immediately preceding the communication beam transition location, so that the sub-carrier frequency spacing for the symbol that occurs at least one of immediately following the communication beam transition location and immediately preceding the beam transition location is different than a sub-carrier frequency spacing for a symbol that does not at least one of immediately precede the communication beam transition location and immediately follow the communication beam transition location.
