Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for signaling and processing information indicating simplified depth coding (SDC) for depth intra-prediction and depth inter-prediction modes in a 3D video coding process, such as a process defined by the 3D-HEVC extension to HEVC. In some examples, the disclosure describes techniques for unifying the signaling of SDC for depth intra-prediction and depth inter-prediction modes in 3D video coding. The signaling of SDC can be unified so that a video encoder or video decoder uses the same syntax element for signaling SDC for both the depth intra-prediction mode and the depth inter-prediction mode. Also, in some examples, a video coder may signal and/or process a residual value generated in the SDC mode using the same syntax structure, or same type of syntax structure, for both the depth intra-prediction mode and depth inter-prediction mode.

Abstract: In an example, a method of decoding video data includes selecting a motion information derivation mode from a plurality of motion information derivation modes for determining motion information for a current block, where each motion information derivation mode of the plurality comprises performing a motion search for a first set of reference data that corresponds to a second set of reference data outside of the current block, and where the motion information indicates motion of the current block relative to reference video data. The method also includes determining the motion information for the current block using the selected motion information derivation mode. The method also includes decoding the current block using the determined motion information and without decoding syntax elements representative of the motion information.

Abstract: A video coder may reconstruct a current picture of video data. A current region of the current picture is associated with a temporal index indicating a temporal layer to which the current region belongs. Furthermore, for each respective array of a plurality of arrays that correspond to different temporal layers, the video coder may store, in the respective array, sets of adaptive loop filtering (ALF) parameters used in applying ALF filters to samples of regions of pictures of the video data that are decoded prior to the current region and that are in the temporal layer corresponding to the respective array or a lower temporal layer than the temporal layer corresponding to the respective array. The video coder determines, based on a selected set of ALF parameters in the array corresponding to the temporal layer to which the current region belongs, an applicable set of ALF parameters.

Abstract: A method of decoding video data includes constructing, by a video decoder implemented in processing circuitry, a candidate list of motion vector information for a portion of a current frame. The method includes receiving, by the video decoder, signaling information indicating starting motion vector information of the candidate list of motion vector information, the starting motion vector information indicating an initial position in a reference frame. The method includes refining, by the video decoder, based on one or more of bilateral matching or template matching, the starting motion vector information to determine refined motion vector information indicating a refined position in the reference frame that is within a search range from the initial position. The method includes generating, by the video decoder, a predictive block based on the refined motion vector information and decoding, by the video decoder, the current frame based on the predictive block.

Abstract: Deblocking is a step in video coding for removing distortions that may result from dividing a video frame into blocks, and encoding the video frame based on the blocks. Techniques described herein can include determining the activity in neighboring blocks along the boundary of the blocks, where the activity measures smoothness or complexity of pixels in the boundary area. An average of the activity can then be determined, as well a difference in the activity between the left block and the right block. The average activity and the difference in activity can then be used to determine a classification for the boundary area. The classification can further be used to select a filter to apply to the pixels in the boundary area. Once the filter have been applied, the blocks can be added to a reconstructed video frame.

A user equipment (UE) may support dynamic clock switching within a transmission time interval (TTI) to allow for more efficient and flexible processing within the TTI. In particular, a user equipment (UE) may be configured to use multiple clock speeds for processing signals within a TTI, and the UE may determine a clock speed to use for processing data within a TTI based on control information received from a base station. For example, the UE may determine an amount of time available for processing data based on the control information received from the base station, and the UE may adjust its clock speed to finish processing the data in the determined amount of time.

Abstract: A device for decoding video data determines that a current block of video data is coded using a linear model prediction mode; for the luma component of the current block, determines reconstructed luma samples; based on luma samples in a luma component of one or more already decoded neighboring blocks and chroma samples in a chroma component of the one or more already decoded neighboring blocks, determines values for linear parameters, wherein the luma samples in the luma component of the one or more already decoded neighboring blocks comprise luma samples from a starting line in the luma component of the one or more already decoded neighboring blocks, wherein the starting line in the luma component of the one or more already decoded neighboring blocks is at least one line removed from a border line of the luma component of the current block.
