Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for transmissions of multiple instances of control information, such as remaining minimum system information (RMSI) that may be used for system access by a user equipment (UE). The multiple instances of the control information may be transmitted in a number of monitoring occasions that may be monitored by a UE, and within the monitoring occasions, the control information may be transmitted using different time locations, frequency locations, or combinations thereof. The locations may be identified based at least in part on one or more parameters associated with at least a first monitoring occasion. The one or more parameters may include an identification parameter associated with the base station or monitoring occasion, an index value associated with the monitoring occasion, a frequency parameter associated with the monitoring occasion, a control information multiplexing pattern, or any combination thereof.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may transmit a UE-generated uplink message to a base station to request resources for an uplink transmission. The UE may be configured to send the message (e.g., a scheduling request (SR)) using different transmission modes. For example, the UE may transmit the SR using a scheduled mode where the UE conveys the SR along with another uplink message (e.g., a control message). In some examples, the UE may transmit the SR using an autonomous mode where the UE transmits the SR in resources reserved for SR transmissions. The UE may determine which transmission mode to use based on certain characteristics of the SR or the data associated with the SR.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Uplink random access channel (RACH) transmissions may be sent on multiple beams by a user equipment (UE). For example, a UE may transmit a random access preamble to a base station in a first RACH transmission, and the base station may respond with a random access response in a second RACH transmission. The second RACH transmission may include an indication for the UE to use multiple transmit beams for a third RACH transmission. Using the indication received from the base station, the UE may proceed to use the indicated two or more beams when sending the third RACH transmission to the base station. Upon receiving the third RACH transmission from the UE, the base station may respond with a fourth RACH transmission, which may further include an indication to the UE to transmit an acknowledgment using one or more beams.

Abstract: Aspects provide a way for RS in different sub-bands within the same OFDM symbol to have different RS placement designs, e.g., different dependence/independence on cell ID. A base station apparatus transmits a first RS in a first resource set using a first RS placement, wherein the first resource set comprises a first subband of an OFDM symbol. The apparatus also transmits a second RS in a second resource set using a second RS placement, wherein the second resource set comprises a second subband of the OFDM symbol. A UE apparatus identifies a first resource set comprising a first subband in a plurality of subbands of an OFDM symbol transmitted by base station, determines whether a RS tone location utilized with the first subband is dependent upon an identifier of the base station, and receives the RS based on a result of the determining.
