Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine that a secondary cell (SCell) is to be activated for the UE or switched from a dormant state to an active state, where the SCell is in a discontinuous reception (DRX) group. The UE may set a DRX state for the SCell based at least in part on determining a DRX state of other SCells in the DRX group or determining that there are no existing SCells in the DRX group. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for configuring discontinuous reception (DRX) cycles within a DRX time period at a user equipment (UE). DRX configurations may provide that different DRX cycles have non-uniform cycle durations within the DRX time period. Such non-uniform cycle durations may provide DRX ON-durations that are aligned with a periodicity of downlink traffic to the UE in which the downlink traffic may be unaligned with timing boundaries used for wireless communications between the UE and a base station, such as slot boundaries or symbol boundaries.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides for proactive wake-up beam management for connected mode discontinuous reception (C-DRX) operation. For example, a user equipment (UE) monitor one or more synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) or reference signals received associated with a set of wake-up beams from a network entity. The UE may further determine that the set of wake-up beams satisfies a distress condition. The UE may additionally transmit a distress indication to the network entity based on determining that the set of wake-up beams satisfies the distress condition. Aspects described herein also provide a network entity that receives a distress indication from the UE in response to transmitting a set of wake-up beams and transmits a subsequent set of wake-up beams having at least one wake-up beam different not included in the set of wake-up beams to the UE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for a user equipment (UE) to determine a time gap between receiving a paging early indication (PEI) and receiving a paging message based on a link quality of the UE. The UE may determine the time gap based on a number of reference signals the UE may measure after receiving the PEI to obtain channel information for accurately decoding a forthcoming paging message and a periodicity of the reference signals. The UE may transmit UE assistance information (UAI) to the base station during an active state to indicate the time gap. The UE may receive a configuration message from the base station indicating a configured time gap for the UE based on the UAI. The UE may receive the PEI and monitor a paging occasion for the paging message according to the configured time gap.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a user equipment (UE) may be configured for discontinuous reception (DRX) operations using wakeup signals. The UE may monitor periodic wakeup signal occasions for wakeup signals and, in the event that the UE detects a wakeup indication that the UE is to initiate an active duration, the UE may power on transmit/receive circuitry for communications with a base station. In an absence of receiving the wakeup indication, the UE may be configured to transmit an uplink reference signal (e.g., a sounding reference signal) to the base station in an inactive duration of a DRX cycle in some cases. The uplink reference signal may be measured at the base station and used to determine one or more parameters for subsequent communications with the UE.

The UE may identify a configuration for a transmission pattern for the first synchronization signal to be transmitted by the base station. The UE may receive one or more instances of the first synchronization signal according to the transmission pattern for the first synchronization signal. The UE may modify the established connection with the base station based at least in part on the received one or more instances of the first synchronization signal.
