Abstract: Device detection in networks with mixed mobility devices is discussed. Devices in the network first determine a discovery mode from a plurality of discovery modes, wherein the determining is based on a mobility state of the wireless device. The device identifies a set of resources associated with the determined discovery mode, wherein each of the plurality of discovery modes is provisioned with separate resources. A discovery signal is transmitted using the identified set of resources according to the discovery mode. Thus, devices with higher mobility will generally send discovery signals more often than devices that are static or semi-static.

Abstract: An apparatus may receive, from a scheduling entity, sidelink grant information in a downlink control channel. After receiving the grant information in the downlink control channel, the apparatus may transmit a request-to-send (RTS) signal comprising an indication of a requested duration of time to reserve a sidelink channel for sidelink data. If the sidelink channel is available for the requested duration of time, the apparatus may receive a clear-to-send (CTS) signal configured to indicate an availability of the sidelink channel for the requested duration of time. Subsequently, the apparatus may communicate, with another apparatus different from the scheduling entity, the sidelink data using the sidelink channel during the requested duration of time. Afterwards, the apparatus may communicate acknowledgment information corresponding to the communication of the sidelink signal with the other apparatus. Various additional and alternative aspects are described herein.

Abstract: An apparatus may determine a cyclic prefix (CP) length for a signal for a communication link based on a dynamic indication. The CP length may be determined from a plurality of CP lengths. The apparatus may communicate the signal using the determined CP length. Determining the CP length may be further based on at least one of a modulation and coding scheme, a subcarrier spacing, a service type, a communication link direction, a rank number, a type or a capability of the node, or a number of nodes scheduled in the same transmit time interval. Determining the CP length may include determining a first CP length for a first symbol of a plurality of symbols in the TTI, and determining a second CP length, different than the first CP length, for a second symbol of the plurality of symbols in the TTI. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some examples, a wireless system may use a staggered uplink/downlink (UL/DL) format in which the symbol periods of the downlink are offset from the symbol periods of the uplink. Thus, if a user equipment (UE) receives a transmission in a first symbol period, it may decode the transmission and transmit a response in a staggered symbol period (e.g., in a UL control channel symbol period beginning one half of a symbol period after the first symbol period). A base station may then receive the response and, if it is a negative acknowledgement (NACK), retransmit during the third symbol period following the first symbol period. In another example, thin control channels may be used to reduce the round trip time between receiving a transmission and a retransmission.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for minimizing latency between receipt of a NACK at a base station from a user equipment (UE) and retransmission of data to the UE. Time constraints for processing the ACK/NACK are relaxed so the base station can decode the ACK/NACK to determine whether a NACK has been received and then prepare for transmission of the appropriate data to the UE in the immediately following transmission time interval (TTI). These constraints are relaxed by separating download data indicator (DDI) from the PDCCH control data and delaying transmission of the DDI until decoding of the ACK/NACK.

Abstract: Some aspects of the present disclosure provide for methods, apparatus, and computer software for low-power synchronization of wireless communication devices. In one example, an asynchronous code division multiple access (CDMA) channel may be utilized for uplink communication. By utilizing asynchronous CDMA on the uplink, synchronization requirements are relaxed relative to other forms of communication. Accordingly, a synchronization period after coming out of a sleep state can be short, reducing power consumption during re-synchronization. In another example, a low-power companion receiver, rather than the full-power WWAN receiver, may be utilized to acquire a sync signal while the device is in its sleep state. Once synchronism is achieved via the low-power companion receiver, the full-power radio may power up and perform communication with the network. By shifting the synchronization from the full-power radio to the low-power companion radio, power consumption during re-synchronization can be achieved.

Abstract: Uplink waveforms for operating long term evolution (LTE) in an unlicensed band (i.e., long term evolution-unlicensed (LTE-U) communication) are disclosed. Carrier aggregation (CA) and standalone (SA) are disclosed. LTE on the licensed channel may provide both control and data, LTE on the unlicensed channel may provide data. Managing variable transmission time interval (TTI) continuous transmission is disclosed for transmission over multiple subframes of an unlicensed carrier in LTE-U. Listen-before-talk (LBT) requirements of unlicensed carriers provide for additional channel occupancy constraints when scheduling resources for multiple UEs for variable TTI continuous uplink transmissions over multiple subframes. A joint control channel is disclosed that provides control information for all of the potentially available subframes to be scheduled for the uplink transmissions. In addition to management of the variable TTI continuous transmissions, adjustments to uplink signal parameters are also disclosed that address the constraints due to the LBT requirements of unlicensed carriers.
