    Abstract: A method of handling multi-access (MA) Protocol data unit (PDU) session handover is proposed. A UE and network can support Access Traffic Steering Switching and Splitting (ATSSS) functionalities to distribute traffic over 3GPP access and non-3GPP access for the established MA PDU session. An ATSSS-Supported UE first establishes a MA PDU Session on both 3GPP and non-3GPP access in a currently registered PLMN which is an ATSSS-Supported network. The UE then moves from the ATSSS-Supported network to an ATSSS-not-Supported network and finally reaches another ATSSS-Supported network. In one novel aspect, a solution is provided on how to handle the ongoing MA PDU Session with two accesses under handover scenarios between ATSSS-Supported and ATSSS-not-Supported networks. Furthermore, if the ongoing MA PDU Session cannot handover, a solution is provided on how to handle the MA PDU Session.

    Abstract: A method for evaluation of UE route selection policy (URSP) rules is proposed. URSP is used by a UE to determine if a detected application can be associated to an established PDU session, can be offloaded to non-3GPP access outside a PDU session, or can trigger the establishment of a new PDU session. The UE first finds a non-default URSP rule with a matching traffic descriptor to the application. Then, the UE selects a route selection descriptor including a preferred access type from a list of RSDs of the non-default URSP rule. After that, the UE matches or establishes a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session for the application by ignoring the preferred access type or using the preferred access type.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure can provide an apparatus and method for communicating with core network of a fifth generation system. The method includes transmitting, by a processing circuitry of a user equipment, a non-access stratum transport message to the core network to initiate a non-access stratum transport procedure with the core network, and receiving an indication message from the core network when a network function of the core network is unable to process the non-access stratum transport message, wherein the indication message includes at least one of a payload type, a cause value, and timer information. When the payload type of the indication message is a fifth generation system session management message, a short message service message or a long term evolution positioning protocol message, the processing circuitry of the user equipment performs at least one of: re-initiating a non-access stratum transport procedure based on timer information, aborting the non-access stratum transport procedure, and releasing a protocol data unit session.

    Abstract: A method of enhanced error handling for 5G QoS operations is proposed. A PDU session defines the association between the UE and the data network that provides a PDU connectivity service. Each PDU session is identified by a PDU session ID, and may include multiple QoS flows and QoS rules. Within a PDU session, there should be one and only one default QoS rule. The default QoS rule indication (DQR) and the QoS flow identifier (QFI) of a signaled QoS rule should not be changed. Two new 5G session management (5GSM) causes are defined: a semantic error in the QoS operation (cause value #83) and a syntactic error (cause value #84) in the QoS operation. The UE should check the QoS rule provided in a PDU session modification command message for different types of QoS rule errors.

    Abstract: A method of providing assistance information to improve the performance of Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) selection is proposed. UE starts to perform PLMN selection procedure and searches for the first cell. The first cell can be an LTE cell or an NR cell served by a first base station. UE receives assistance information via system information broadcasted by the first base station. The assistance information comprises frequency band of NR/LTE cells, PLMN ID, subcarrier spacing (SCS) for NR cells, and RAT/system priority. UE then determines its PLMN/RAT preference, e.g., based on the availability of NR cells or LTE ENDC cells. Finally, UE continues the PLMN selection procedure searching for NR cell or LTE cell based on the assistance information.

    Abstract: A UE determines a set of RATs available in accordance with a first subscriber identity associated with a first network and a second subscriber identity associated with a second network. When the set includes a first RAT accessing a base station in the first network, a second RAT accessing a base station in the second network, and a third RAT accessing an access point of a WLAN, the UE selects, in a first performance configuration, the first RAT to establish a first call under the first subscriber identity. The UE further communicates, under the first subscriber identity, with a first IMS server of the first network through the first RAT to establish the first call. The UE maintains, under the second subscriber identity, a connection with a second IMS server of the second network through the first RAT or the third RAT when the first call is active.
