    Abstract: A method of handling multi-access (MA) Protocol data unit (PDU) session establishment procedure for an MA PDU session already established with a 3GPP PDN leg is proposed. In one novel aspect, for a 5GS MA PDU session already established on 3GPP access via an EPS PDN connection, upon receipt of a PDU SESSION ESTABLISHMENT ACCEPT message over non-3GPP access, the UE performs a local release of the MA PDU session if any value of at least one of the critical MA PDU session parameters, including the PDU session type, selected SSC mode, 5GSM cause, PDU address, S-NSSAI, and DNN IEs in the PDU SESSION ESTABLISHMENT ACCEPT message is different-from/un-sync/not-matched/not-compatible-with the corresponding stored value of the MA PDU session mapped from the (default EPS bearer of the) PDN connection. The UE also performs a REGISTRATION procedure over non-3GPP access and a TAU procedure over 3GPP access.

    Abstract: A method of handling NAS signaling connection release and rejection of paging under transmission failure for MUSIM UE is proposed. UE has established a NAS signaling connection or has received a paging from the network on the first USIM. However, UE has more important job to be started or ongoing on the second USIM. UE then initiates a service request procedure by transmitting a service request to the network, to release the NAS signaling connection or to reject the paging on the first USIM. Due to poor radio signal quality, a transmission failure occurred. In one novel aspect, UE does not restart the service request procedure. Instead, UE locally releases the NAS signaling connection on the first USIM. As a result, UE is able to start the more important job on the second USIM, or the user experience on the second USIM is improved.

When a PDU session in 5GS is transferred to a PDN connection in EPS, the UE shall assume the feature is supported after inter-system change from 5GS to EPS.     Abstract: A method for evaluation of UE route selection policy (URSP) rules is proposed. URSP is used by a UE to determine if a detected application can be associated to an established PDU session, can be offloaded to non-3GPP access outside a PDU session, or can trigger the establishment of a new PDU session. The UE first finds a non-default URSP rule with a matching traffic descriptor to the application. Then, the UE selects a route selection descriptor including a preferred access type from a list of RSDs of the non-default URSP rule. After that, the UE matches or establishes a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session for the application by ignoring the preferred access type or using the preferred access type.

    Abstract: A method for UE route selection policy (URSP) rule matching regarding S-NSSAI and PDU session type is proposed. When an application is executed, a UE finds an RSD of a matching URSP rule, and the association of the application with an existing PDU session should have some exceptions. In one example, regarding S-NSSAI, if there's only a single allowed S-NSSAI or the UE is aware of the default S-NSSAI, the UE can associate the PDU session with the application where the existing PDU session is established with an S-NSSAI provided by the UE, but the RSD doesn't include any S-NSSAI. In another example, regarding PDU session type, the PDU session type IPv4v6 in the RSD can match with PDU session type IPv4 or IPv6 of the PDU session, which was established when the UE requested IPv4v6 during the PDU session establishment.

    Abstract: A method of enhanced error handling for 5G QoS operations is proposed. A PDU session defines the association between the UE and the data network that provides a PDU connectivity service. Each PDU session is identified by a PDU session ID, and may include multiple QoS flows and QoS rules. Within a PDU session, there should be one and only one default QoS rule. The default QoS rule indication (DQR) and the QoS flow identifier (QFI) of a signaled QoS rule should not be changed. Two new 5G session management (5GSM) causes are defined: a semantic error in the QoS operation (cause value #83) and a syntactic error (cause value #84) in the QoS operation. The UE should check the QoS rule provided in a PDU session modification command message for different types of QoS rule errors.
