The limit switches preferably include LED emitter and phototransistor sensor elements and are preferably mounted on a circuit board in close proximity to a screw member which rotates in timed relation to the position of the door. Linearly movable nut members are mounted on the screw member and include or engage optical shield members which move into positions to provide respective output signals from the optical switches. The door closed optical limit switch may incorporate a pre-limit switch function to override a signal from a door bottom edge obstruction sensor.

It includes means of providing electronic snow limit to close limit sensing removing the need for two switches and radically improving its accuracy. It discloses a system using lamps to indicate that the power wiring is connecting to three-phase motors in the correct sequence or that single-phase motors have their windings correctly phased.

The disclosure concerns a regulator for moving a window in a vehicle door ccessively substantially vertically and horizontally and vice versa. In other words, once the window is closed vertically the lower edge may be moved outwardly horizontally to become more flush with the outside surface of the door of the vehicle. The regulator comprises a closed loop of cable wrapped about a reversible driving drum and having a vertical reach which is attached to a pulley connected to the carrier for the window. This pulley is provided with a pair of diametrically opposite cam follower pins or rollers that are guided in a vertical slot parallel to the vertical reach of cable, which slot has a bifurcated or Y-shaped pair of slots at its upper end for rotating the pulley up to about 180.degree. when the pulley reaches the "Y" and the cable means continues to pull. The pulley also has a helical groove axial and integral therewith for positively screwing the carrier attached to the lower edge of the window outwardly horizontally. This carrier has a socket with a radial pin therein fitting into said helical groove so that oscillation of said pulley produces the horizontal reciprocating motion of the carrier and lower edge of the window. When the cable then pulls in the other direction on the pulley, it positively screws the window carrier inwardly horizontally before lowering the window carrier to open the window.

The circuit also includes a reversing switch for reversing the motor rotation and door movement automatically if the door engages an obstacle during movement in the closing direction. A control unit controls the electric motor such that a closing operation is performed, the closing operation operates the rack-and-pinion mechanism so as to move the sliding doors to a fully closed position and then displacing a link mechanism in a lock mechanism from an unlocking position to a locking position. Furthermore, the control unit controls the electric motor so as to reduce the output of the electric motor at a predetermined intermediate time point during the closing operation.

In a method and a device for determining a reference position of a locking part moved by an electric motor, the locking part is moved in the direction of the closed state thereof, until the same reaches a stop position. At that location the meter reading of a position meter describing the stop position is detected and buffered. Subsequently a movement of the locking part is carried out in the direction of the opened state thereof. The locking part is then moved again in the direction of the closed state thereof, until it again reaches a stop position. At that location a meter reading describing the stop position is detected, and compared to the buffered meter reading. If both meter readings agree, the first stop position is determined as the reference position. The method and device can be utilized, for example, for power window lifts and sunroofs of motor vehicles.
