Abstract: A heat management system includes an electronic control unit configured to determine at least one route section-related historical heating or cooling effect profile based on heat management-relevant data of a navigation system acquired for a predefined period, acquire, for the same predefined period, a route section-related historic temperature profile by sensor for each component, determine at least one route section-related predicted heating or cooling effect profile based on the heat management-relevant data of the navigation system, which are predictable for at least one predefined horizon, and ascertain a predicted temperature profile for each component on the basis of the historic heating or cooling effect profile, the historical temperature profile, and the predicted heating or cooling effect profile.

Abstract: A lithium-ion battery cell is preconditioned using an initial, one-time process of cell formation at an elevated temperature, or after cell formation, charge/discharge cycling for a predetermined number of cycles within a specified period of time at an elevated temperature prior to being placed in service. The process may be performed as part of manufacturing during cell formation after electrolyte filling and pre-charging. Alternatively, the pre-conditioning process may be performed after assembly of finished cells within a multi-cell battery, either before or after installation of the battery in a product, but before the battery is subjected to harsh conditions, such as fast charging and/or discharging at low temperature. An electrified vehicle may include an electric machine powered by a multi-cell lithium-ion battery preconditioned according to the initial, one-time process.

Abstract: To adsorb an adsorbate rapidly on a heat storage material with good energy efficiency. A chemical heat storage device includes an adsorbate, a heat storage material, and a sprayer. The adsorbate is in a liquid state at normal temperature. The heat storage material releases heat of adsorption in response to adsorption of the adsorbate on the heat storage material and stores the heat of adsorption in response to desorption of the adsorbate from the heat storage material. The sprayer sprays the adsorbate on the heat storage material in a heat release period of causing the heat storage material to release the heat of adsorption. With the above-described configuration, it is possible to increase a speed of diffusion of the adsorbate in the heat storage material through spraying of the adsorbate on the heat storage material.
