摘要: A system for coordinating the splices in each of the component webs used in making a composite corrugated paperboard web independently measures on a dynamic real time basis the length of each component web between the splicer where it is supplied and a downstream cutoff apparatus where the synchronized splices are cut out in a short length of web in which they are contained. The real time measurement of each component web includes continuous monitoring of web lengths subject to change while running through variable length storage areas, and an initialization procedure whereby an initially unknown length of component web in its respective storage is determined. The system also includes a calibration procedure by which the various devices used to measure running web lengths throughout the system are all calibrated to a master device which controls the total web length for each order. Accuracy of the system is further enhanced by independently monitoring the response time of each splicer to its activating control signal and adjusting, as necessary, the timing of the control signal for measured variations in response time.

摘要: To determine a paper splice time when the present web is spliced to a next web for the purpose of a so-called lot shift (or a paper shift) in an apparatus for producing corrugated paper boards, not only a length of each core but also a length of each web have been hitherto measured. In view of the current circumstance that a measuring operation is accompanied by various errors and an order is often given with a small lot in size, determination of a paper shift time is made at an operator's discretion which depends on his skill. In practice, there often arises a malfunction that the operator erroneously determines the time when a paper shifting operation is to be performed. To obviate the foregoing malfunction, the present invention provides a system for informing a paper shift during a production controlling operation for an apparatus for producing corrugated paper boards wherein a remaining time till the time when a paper shifting operation is performed can be assured by a time enough long to accomplish the paper shifting operation regardless of a lot size and moreover a warning for informing the time when the paper shifting operation is started as well as a warning at each step during production of corrugated paper boards can be instructed.

摘要: Proximity type sensors detect the passage of the flutes of a single face web at the inlet and outlet of a bridge. Separate counts are maintained of the number of flutes detected at the bridge inlet and outlet based on the outputs of the sensors. Data representative of the number of flutes per unit length of one or more single face webs is stored in memory. The appropriate data is selectively retrieved from memory and multiplied by the difference between the flute counts at the bridge inlet and outlet to obtain a signal representative of actual length of web on the bridge.

摘要: A vacuum actuated guide and tension control system for use in a corrugated paperboard manufacturing plant or the like. The vacuum actuated guide includes a smooth paper contacting surface having a plurality of spaced openings through which a vacuum is imposed upon a sheet passing thereby. The guide, acting upon paper which is being unwound from a roll, or otherwise being operated upon during movement, urges the paper into frictional pressure contact with the perforated smooth surface. The tension placed upon the paper is controlled automatically by varying the amount of negative pressure to which the paper is subjected. In the event of a paper break or other unexpected happening, the operator can actuate a switch and instantaneously terminate the vacuum enabling an instant shutdown of the machine and correction of the problem.

摘要: The separate motors of the single facer and double facer machines of a corrugator are controlled in response to separate digital set point signals. Each set point signal is generated by a counter in response to a pulse generator. In a RUN mode, the counter automatically generates a preselected set point signal indicative of a preselected minimum speed and the motor speed is brought up to the preselected minimum speed. The pulse generator and counter are free-running until a digital detector senses the preselected set point signal and inhibits the pulse generator. In FAST and SLOW modes, the pulse generator is selectively steered by the operator to cause the counter to generate selective set point signals indicative of selective set point speeds and the motor speed is varied to the set point speeds. In SET, SPLICE HOLD and SLOW HOLD modes, the set point signal is automatically varied to indicate either an adjustable reference speed set by thumb wheel switches or preset reference speeds set by internal preset switches. The motor speed is varied to the appropriate reference speed. In these modes, the pulse generator is steered by a digital comparator which inhibits the pulse generator when the set point signal indicates either the adjustable or preset reference speeds. At the initiation of the SPLICE HOLD and SLOW HOLD modes, a temporary storage circuit stores the value of the set point signal. In a RESUME mode, the stored signal is transmitted to the digital comparator and the motor speed is restored to the stored value. In a SYNC mode, the single facer motor is controlled in synchronism with the double facer motor.

摘要: The methods provide for detecting at least one operational parameter of a functional unit of the plant and calculating a current value of at least a first statistical function of the operational parameter in a current temporal window, the current value of the first statistical function defining a first coordinate of a point of current operation of the functional unit. A step is also provided of verifying whether the point of current operation is within a range of allowable values of the first statistical function, the values contained in the range of allowable values corresponding to a correct operation of the functional unit. In case the point of current operation is outside the range of allowable values, the position is determined of the point of current operation with respect to the range of allowable values and a statistical diagnosis is provided of the cause of the deviation of the current value from the range of allowable values based on the position.
