Abstract: A pool or spa system includes networked pool or spa devices that can be dynamically configured with network addresses by a controller. The controller can transmit a device discovery request on a network and can receive a discovery response from pool or spa devices that require a network address. The system determines and assigns the network addresses for the pool or spa devices based on unique device identifiers associated with the responding pool or spa devices. The network addresses assigned to the pool or spa device are transmitted to the pool or spa device to be used by the pool or spa devices to communicate with the controller over the network. The system can be used to discover and assign addresses to various types of pool or spa devices, such as pumps, underwater lights, chlorinators, water feature controllers, remote controllers, and/or other types of devices.

Abstract: A CPR machine (100) is configured to perform, on a patient's (182) chest, compressions that alternate with releases. The CPR machine includes a compression mechanism (148), and a driver system (141) configured to drive the compression mechanism. A force sensing system (149) may sense a compression force, and the driving can be adjusted accordingly if there is a surprise. For instance, driving may have been automatic according to a motion-time profile, which is adjusted if the compression force is not as expected (850). An optional chest-lifting device (152) may lift the chest between the compressions, to assist actively the decompression of the chest. A lifting force may be sensed, and the motion-time profile can be adjusted if the compression force or the lifting force is not as expected.

Abstract: A virtual reality system is described herein. The virtual reality system includes a cane controller and a computing system. The cane controller comprises a rod, a sensor, and a brake mechanism, wherein the sensor is configured to generate a signal that is indicative of position, direction of movement, and velocity of the rod, and wherein the brake mechanism is configured to apply a force to the rod. The computing system receives the signal, computes a position, direction of movement, and velocity of a virtual rod in a virtual space, and outputs a control signal to the brake mechanism based upon such computation. The brake mechanism applies the force to the rod in a direction and with a magnitude indicated in the control signal, thereby preventing the user from causing the virtual rod to penetrate a virtual barrier in the virtual space.

Abstract: Some adult devices are ostensibly marketed to improve female sexual experience female by offering exercises to address relaxed vaginal muscles from birth, age, surgery etc. and for reducing incontinence. However, such devices suffer from variable placement by the user both in terms of orientation and penetrative depth such that the “results” are not reproducible and captured data used to provide feedback to the user and/or providing visual/audible prompts is flawed. Accordingly, it would be beneficial to provide a device with reproducible placement and data for enhancing the usability/benefit of the exercise regimen. It would be further beneficial for the device to either provide this exercise regime as part of a wider assessment of sexual wellness or as part of a sexual stimulation activity thereby reducing the focus on “exercise” to derive the benefits of improved pelvic muscle control.
