Abstract: A system for monitoring health of a person is disclosed. The system includes measuring heart beats of the person. The system also includes data processing system, which is configured to calculate instantaneous heart rate data and provide a periodic biofeedback function including parameters, the parameters including an amplitude A, and an angular frequency P. The periodic biofeedback function also includes a cumulative difference E relative to the instantaneous heart rate data. The data processing system is configured to fit the periodic biofeedback function into the instantaneous heart rate data and determine the parameters and cumulative difference E. The amplitude A determines a heart rate variability of the person. A related method and a computer program are also disclosed.

Abstract: Methods, systems and devices are provided for motion-activated display of messages on an activity monitoring device. In one embodiment, method for presenting a message on an activity monitoring device is provided, including the following method operations: downloading a plurality of messages to the device; detecting a stationary state of the device; detecting a movement of the device from the stationary state; in response to detecting the movement from the stationary state, selecting one of a plurality of messages, and displaying the selected message on the device.

Abstract: A wearable cardioverter defibrillator (“WCD”) system may include an impedance detector configured to render an impedance signal of the patient. The WCD system may determine, from the impedance signal, a characteristic of breathing by the patient that can be used as a vital sign. The WCD system may determine, from at least the breathing characteristic, whether or not a shock criterion is met. If the shock criterion is met, the WCD system may control a discharge circuit to discharge a stored electrical charge through the patient. An advantage can be that the breathing characteristic may be used to determine whether or not a patient is experiencing a condition that requires defibrillation therapy, such as sudden cardiac arrest. Even more advantages can be had in discerning the state of the patient when the breathing characteristic is combined with other data, such as from a motion detector.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring collection of subject condition data is provided. The method includes receiving a value of a parameter of subject condition data and a value of a sample time, for each of a plurality of sample times. The method also includes storing the subject condition data in a data structure including a first field for holding data indicating a current sample time and a second field for holding data indicating the value of the parameter. The method also includes determining a time gap defined by a duration between the current sample time and a most recent sample time and determining whether the time gap exceeds a time gap threshold and causing an apparatus to perform remedial action. A method for presenting the subject condition data on a display is also provided.

Abstract: A system for managing an individualized cardiac rehabilitation plan is provided. The system includes an externally worn device and a server. The server includes a processor configured to receive input regarding the rehabilitation plan; generate one or more plans specifying an individualized set of rehabilitative exercise sessions for a patient, receive electrocardiogram (ECG) and non-ECG physiological information acquired from the patient compare the ECG and/or non-ECG physiological information to predetermined criteria and dynamically adjust the cardiac rehabilitation plan based on the comparison to create an adjusted cardiac rehabilitation plan.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a wearable device for healthcare and method for using the device. More specifically, the wearable device is worn on a finger for measuring the health data of the user, selected from one or more of heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, heart rate variability. Based on the measured data, the sleep quality can be monitored and recorded. Disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), can be detected. The wearable device may include an optical sensor coupled with or embedded in a main body including a visible light emitter, an IR light emitter and a light detector being arranged along a longitudinal direction of the finger. During operation of the wearable device, the heart rate is monitored based on a detected light signal. When the heart rate is higher than an adaptive threshold, both heart rate and blood oxygen saturation are monitored.
