    Abstract: A method, system, and computer readable medium for encoding one or more input digital frames with obscured negative regions of interest. The method comprising, comparing frame data to mask data for one or more sections of an input digital frame to determine whether or not a given section of the input digital frame is to be obscured, setting one or more encoding parameters to values that result in corresponding obscured sections when decoded after encoding for each section of the frame that is to be obscured, encoding the one or more sections of the input digital frame to generate corresponding encoded frame data and storing or transmitting the encoded frame data.

    Abstract: A derived quantization parameter for a section of a currently encoding picture of a plurality of pictures is incremented to produce an updated quantization parameter when the derived quantization parameter is less than a minimum quantization parameter for the currently encoding picture. The section is then encoded using the updated quantization parameter. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.

    Abstract: An advanced constant quality rate control algorithm with new features and enhancements. can be applicable to different kinds of video scenes, in addition to static or less motion scenes. Statistical data is calculated at the beginning of encoding for each line of sections of a frame. Based on the statistical data, which case of a plurality of cases to be executed is determined and maximum and minimum QP values are determined according to the determined case. Actual maximum and minimum QP of the current line using is maintained using the maximum and minimum QP and a final QP value is determined for all sections in each line. A lambda value for encoding is determined from the final QP. At the end of encoding the picture, the number of frames encoded using constant quality is counted, the maximum and minimum QP and VBV fullness for each line is updated.

    Abstract: Techniques are described for reducing latency in networked gaming by reducing I-frame sizes (which also results in automatically increasing P-frame sizes) to reduce the overall amount of video being transmitted. The reduced size of the I-frames is compensated for by increasing the size of other frames using a low pass filter (LPF) such as a Gaussian filter which reduces sharpness that the decoder can try to recover, or by use of lower resolution. The I-frame can be reduced by rotating it or flipping/mirroring it to produce the smaller coded frame, sending a flag to signal the orientation.
