Abstract: A method for interfacing with a scene is provided, including: rendering display data on a main display, the display data defining a scene rendered on the main display, the display data being configured to include a visual cue; capturing the display data by an image capture device incorporated into a portable device; analyzing the captured display data to identify the visual cue; in response to identification of the visual cue, determining additional information that is in addition to the scene that is displayed on the main display, the additional information defining graphics or text to be added to the scene; presenting the additional information on a personal display incorporated into the portable device, the presentation of the additional information being synchronized to the rendering of the display data on the main display.

Abstract: A method for reducing discomfort when viewing virtual reality (VR) content for use in head mounted displays (HMDs). The method includes accessing a model that identifies a plurality of learned patterns associated with the generation of corresponding baseline VR content that is likely to cause discomfort. The method includes processing a first application to generate data associated with simulated user interactions with first VR content of the first application. The method includes comparing the data to the model to identify a pattern in the data matching at least one of the learned patterns, such that the identified pattern is likely to cause discomfort. The method includes identifying a zone in the first application corresponding to identified pattern. The method includes applying a discomfort reduction filter effect within the zone for purposes of reducing potential discomfort in a user.

Abstract: Methods and systems of pairing controllers for game play are presented. In one example, a method of pairing controllers to a base computing device for playing a game executed on the base computing device is provided. The method includes receiving a pairing request from one of a first or a second controller. The pair request is generated in response physical contact between the first and second controllers. The method assigns the first and second controllers as a first pairing for a first player and assigns the first pairing to a first color. The method includes transmitting the first color to the first or second controllers, such that at least one of the first and second controllers for the first pairing is configured to illuminate in the first color. Additional pairs of controllers will be assigned a different color, so that each player has a color differentiated color on their respective controller.

Abstract: Audio fingerprinting and other media matching technologies can be used to identify broadcast media, such as television shows and radio broadcasts. A user device can record image, audio, and/or video information and upload information to a matching service that is able to use matching technology to identify the media and provide supplemental content or information to the user. The user might receive information identifying a product in an advertisement, identifying an actor on screen in a movie at a particular time, or other such information. In some embodiments, the user can receive access to a digital copy of the captured media, such as the ability to download a copy of a program in which a user expressed interest. Since a user might capture media information after the point of interest, a device can buffer a window of recently captured media in order to attempt to identify the intended media.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for the presentation of images in a head-mounted display (HMD). One HMD includes a screen, a processor, inertial sensors, a motion tracker module, and a display adjuster module. The motion tracker tracks motion of the HMD based on inertial data from the inertial sensors, and the display adjuster produces modified display data for an image frame to be scanned to the screen if the motion of the HMD is greater than a threshold amount of motion. The display data includes pixel values to be scanned to rows in sequential order, and the modified display data includes adjusted pixel values for pixels in a current pixel row of the image frame to compensate for the distance traveled by the HMD during a time elapsed between scanning a first pixel row of the image frame and scanning the current pixel row of the image frame.
