A repeater for selecting a channel in a local communication system, and a method thereof are provided. A repeater of a local communication system includes a transceiver configured to perform at least one of transmitting and receiving a signal, and a controller configured to calculate a degree of interference of an available channel with an adjacent channel, the interference caused when a frequency band of the available channel overlaps partially with a frequency band of the adjacent channel, and to determine that the repeater is to use a channel having a smallest degree of interference as a channel.

Methods and apparatus are provided for measuring a position of a mobile terminal. A first position is calculated by using a GPS signal. A visible light communication mode of the mobile terminal is activated, when the first position exceeds a predetermined error range. Visible light communication device position information is received. A third position is calculated by using a second position, which corresponds to a position prior to the first position, and the visible light communication device position information.

A method and a device for performing communication in a wireless communication system are provided. In the wireless communication system, a transmitter determines a communication state for first devices using a first communication scheme for a first time interval, determines a duration of a second time interval to be allocated for the first devices, and transmits information on the second time interval having the determined duration to the first devices before the second time interval starts, wherein the first time interval and the second time interval are included in a frame allocated for a second communication scheme that different from the first communication scheme, wherein a frequency used for the first communication scheme is identical to a frequency used for the second communication scheme, and wherein a signal transmission operation of second devices using the second communication scheme is suspended during the first time interval and the second time interval.

A visible light communication method and terminal are provided for communicating with a visible light coordinator which discriminates between at least one communication area cell that includes at least one light source and a boundary area positioned between the communication area cell and another communication area cell adjacent to the communication cell area, and which provides time division visible light communication. Data of the visible light communication terminal is received from the visible light coordinator using a first time slot in a first communication area cell determined according to a position of the visible light communication terminal. The visible light coordinator is communicated with using a second time slot assigned from the visible light coordinator, when the visible light communication terminal is located in a boundary area of the first communication area cell. The second time slot has not been assigned to the visible light communication terminal.

A method for performing handover between heterogeneous networks by a User Equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes periodically sending a first node a measurement report message while being provided a communication service from the first node using a first frequency band, the measurement report message including measurements for the first node and at least one other node using a different frequency band than the first frequency band, and exchanging information, required to perform handover to a second node having a greatest measurement among the at least one other node, with the second node if a handover preparation request message is received from the first node.

The present invention relates to a position compensation device using visible light communication and a method thereof. To this end, the present invention receives a visible light signal which includes lighting position information from a lighting device to extract the lighting position information from the received visible light signal, and calculates a compensated position of a position compensation device by using the extracted lighting position information if a request for position compensation exists, thereby providing an exact position of a user indoors.

Disclosed is a control method of a communication system including at least one sensor that a user wears, a wireless communication apparatus and a coordinator. The control method of the communication system includes: in the coordinator, receiving a proxy authority request for proxy with respect to the at least one sensor and the coordinator from the wireless communication apparatus, and granting the proxy authority to the wireless communication apparatus; in the wireless communication apparatus, creating a user identifier corresponding to the user; in the wireless communication apparatus, searching for the at least one sensor that the user wears, and forming a pairing with the at least one found sensor; in the wireless communication apparatus, making a request to the at least one found sensor for association information for the association with the coordinator and the sensor, and receiving the association information; in the wireless communication apparatus, making a request to the coordinator for association proxy for an association between the at least one found sensor and the coordinator, and receiving the association proxy in response to the request; and in the coordinator, requesting data by forming an association with the at least one found sensor, and receiving data corresponding to the data request.
