The present invention relates to transmit power allocation in multi-carrier, multiplexing MIMO communication systems. The present invention especially relates to a MIMO communication device, a method of assigning transmit power to two or more communication channels and a software program product. A multiple-input-multiple-output, MIMO, communication device according to the present invention comprises a link controller adapted to assign transmit power to two or more transmission channels, each of said transmission channels having preassigned a portion of transmit power for each of a group of subcarriers, said link controller being further adapted to assign, for each subcarrier of said group of subcarriers, at least part of the preassigned transmit power portion of a transmission channel that is not used for transmitting information at the subcarrier, to one or more transmission channels that are used for transmitting information at the subcarrier.

A power line communication modem is provided, including a connection element configured to connect the power line communication modem to at least three wires of a power line network; a transmitter configured to transmit a first signal via a first combination of at least two wires of the at least three wires and to transmit a second signal via a second combination of at least two wires of the at least three wires; a controller adapted to individually control a transmit power of the first signal and the second signal. A corresponding power line communication system and a power line communication method are provided as well.

A coding and modulation apparatus and method are presented, particularly for use in a system according to IEEE 802.11. The apparatus comprises an encoder configured to encode input data into cell words according to a low density parity check code, LDPC, and a modulator configured to modulate said cell words into constellation values of a non-uniform constellation and to assign bit combinations to constellation values of the used non-uniform constellation, wherein said modulator is configured to use, based on the total number N of constellation points of the constellation and the code rate R, a particular non-uniform constellation, which has been optimized using the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR).

A transmitter and a receiver for communicating data using at least two separate RF channels using channel bundling. The transmitter includes a data stream partitioner configured to partition a data stream of data to be communicated into two or more stream partitions, two or more modulators configured to each receive a stream partition and to generate modulated data from the received stream partition, and an interleaver configured to assign the modulated data generated by a modulator from a received stream partition to different RF channels for transmission.

A method for transmitting a signal from a transmitter over a channel to a receiver on a Power Line Network, wherein said signal is OFDM-modulated on a set of sub-carriers, is proposed, wherein an OFDM tonemap and an eigenbeamforming encoding matrix are determined based on a channel estimation for each sub-carrier, a tonemap feedback signal and an eigenbeamforming feedback signal are generated, which are descriptive of said OFDM tonemap and said eigenbeamforming encoding matrix, respectively, and transmitted to the transmitter. A corresponding receiver, a transmitter, a power line communication and a power line communication system are described as well.

A transmission apparatus and transmitting method for signaling parameters of a part of a frame, and a reception apparatus and receiving method for decoding a part of a transmission frame. The transmitting method includes generating, using processing circuitry of a transmission apparatus, a transmission frame. The transmission frame includes a plurality of parts. A last symbol in a first one of the plurality of parts includes signaling information for decoding a second one of the plurality of parts. The transmitting method further includes transmitting the transmission frame using the processing circuitry.

A method for operating a device for power line communication includes measuring noise on the power line and detecting noise timing properties. Further, a method for adapting power line communication to detected noise timing properties, which may be asynchronous to the AC mains signal, includes adapting parameters for encoding a data stream and/or transmission parameters according to the detected noise timing properties and/or transmission timing information derived from the detected noise timing properties, encoding a data stream according to the adapted parameters for encoding, and transmitting the encoded data stream to the power line on at least one power line communications channel according to the adapted transmission parameters.

A method for transmitting signals over a power line network, wherein within the power line network at least one transmitter and at least one receiver communicate via at least two channels, each channel including a respective feeding port of at least one transmitter and the respective receiving port of the at least one transmitter and transmitter including at least two feeding ports. The method: determines a channel characteristic of each of the channels; applies a feeding port selection criterion based on the channel characteristic; and selects an excluded feeding port among the at least two feeding ports based on the feeding port selection criterion, wherein the excluded feeding port is not used during further communication.
