Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to a methods and systems operable by a network entity for wireless communication, that includes determining that User Equipment (UE) is in idle mode and receiving eMBMS (evolved Multimedia Broadcast and Multicast Service); and based on the determining, activating a power optimization procedure in order to reduce power consumption of the UE. Examples of a power optimization procedures include a single or multi-level hardware shut down procedure, lowering the clock rate of hardware, and shutting down a communication bus during periods of non-use.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) or multiple UEs may transmit a grant-free uplink transmission to a base station. The base station may monitor resources for the grant-free uplink transmission (e.g., from one or more UEs) and the base station may generate a group feedback message corresponding to whether the base station successfully received the uplink transmission(s). The group feedback message may contain feedback for multiple uplink transmissions from one or multiple UEs. The group feedback message may be transmitted to a UE over a downlink shared channel or a downlink control channel and the UE may receive the group feedback message and may determine whether to retransmit the uplink transmission based on the group feedback message.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a wireless communication device may determine to block puncture or to block shorten a set of transmitted bits of an adjusted fractally enhanced kernel polar code for a communication of an incremental redundancy (IR)-hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process based at least in part on a code rate associated with the communication of the IR-HARQ process. The wireless communication device may generate the adjusted fractally enhanced kernel polar code for the communication based at least in part on determining to block puncture or to block shorten the set of transmitted bits. The wireless communication device may transmit the communication using the adjusted fractally enhanced kernel polar code. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for adapting access timing parameters when using DSRC spectrum. A multi-mode device may adapt at least one access timing parameter while operating within the DSRC spectrum. The at least one access timing parameter may be adapted to provide priority to transmissions of DSRC devices using the DSRC spectrum. The multi-mode device may increase a duration of a short inter-frame spacing (SIFS) to be at least equal to a duration of a SIFS used by a DSRC device.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for opportunistically using at least a portion of a dedicated short range communications (DSRC) spectrum. A multi-mode device is operated outside of the DSRC spectrum. An activity level is detected on at least a portion of the DSRC spectrum, and it is determined whether to use at least the portion of the DSRC spectrum based at least in part on the detected activity level.

Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications and, more particularly, to methods and apparatus for adjusting a number of encoded bits, M, in block puncturing and/or shortening calculations to improve encoding performance. An exemplary method that may be performed by a wireless device generally includes iteratively determining a parameter, Madj, for construction of a polar code of size N for use in encoding K information bits, based on: at least two parameters, α and β, related to how many iterations to use in determining Madj, and a number of encoded bits, M; performing information adjustment allocation of the K information bits to an upper part and a lower part of the polar code based on Madj; and transmitting the upper part and the lower part of the polar code via a wireless medium.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may determine at least one of a downlink path loss value or an uplink path loss value associated with a base station; receive system information, a semi-persistently configured grant via RRC or a dynamic uplink grant via DCI from the base station, wherein the RRC signaling or the dynamic uplink grant identifies a power control value associated with one user or a plurality of users associated with the base station; and determine a transmit power for a data or control transmission based at least in part on at least one of the downlink path loss value or the uplink path loss value and the power control value. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive an indication of a modified physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) configuration for low tier UEs; receive downlink control information (DCI) configured according to the modified PDCCH configuration; and process the DCI according to the modified PDCCH configuration. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for wireless communication. An exemplary method generally includes receiving an indication of a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) to use for transmitting information, wherein the indication of the MCS indicates an MCS index value corresponding to an entry in an MCS lookup table, determining, based on the MCS index value, a transport block size (TBS) to use for transmitting the information, wherein determining the TBS comprises receiving an explicit indication of the TBS to use for transmitting the information, and transmitting the information using the MCS and TBS.
