Abstract: A first communication device determines whether the first communication device is to use a first channel access mode or a second channel access mode for accessing a communication channel when the first communication device is triggered for uplink transmission by a second communication device. The first communication device receives a trigger frame from the second communication device. The first communication device transmits, to the second communication device, a data unit triggered by the trigger frame, including using the determined one of the first channel access mode or the second channel access mode to gain access to the communication channel.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide a method for establishing multi-user operation with duplex medium access control in a wireless local area network. Specifically, a trigger frame is transmitted to one or more client stations in a wireless local area network. In response to transmitting the trigger frame, one or more uplink data packets are received from the one or more client stations. It is then determined whether the one or more client stations support duplex operation. A downlink data packet configured in a multi-user data format is transmitted to at least one destined client station that supports duplex operation while simultaneously receiving the one or more uplink data packets from the one or more client stations.

Abstract: A communication device encodes a plurality of information bits to generate a plurality of encoded bits, and maps the plurality of encoded bits to a plurality of constellation symbols, including mapping each bit to multiple constellation symbols. The communication device generates a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols corresponding to a physical layer (PHY) data unit using the plurality of constellation symbols, wherein the OFDM symbols are generated such that: the OFDM symbols have a tone spacing that is ¼ of a tone spacing of a legacy wireless communication protocol, and the OFDM symbols span only a subband of a 20 MHz communication channel. The communication device generates a transmission signal using the plurality of OFDM symbols, the transmission signal spanning only the subband of the 20 MHz communication channel.

Abstract: In a method for communicating in a wireless communication network a trigger frame is generated to trigger simultaneous uplink transmissions by multiple communication devices. The trigger frame includes a padding portion having a length determined based on respective time duration requirements of the multiple communication devices, the respective time duration requirements for preparing uplink transmission by the corresponding second communication devices. The trigger frame is transmitted to the multiple communication devices. The simultaneous uplink transmissions, triggered by the trigger frame, are received from the multiple communication devices.

Abstract: A first wireless communication device including a timing module and a fine timing measurement module. The timing module is configured to provide a first timer value. The fine timing measurement module is configured to receive, from a second wireless communication device, a first request to perform a fine timing measurement to determine a distance between the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device, and transmit a first response including a first time to start a burst period for performing the fine timing measurement. The first time is one of included in the request received from the second wireless communication device and based on the first timer value. The fine timing measurement module is further configured to perform the fine timing measurement in the burst period starting at the first time.

Abstract: In a method for generating a data unit for transmission via a communication channel, the data unit conforming to a first communication protocol, one or more orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols of the data unit are generated. Each OFDM symbol of the one or more OFDM symbols (i) occupies a first bandwidth, (ii) is generated with a first tone spacing, and (iii) includes a set of pilot tones. The first tone spacing is a fraction 1/N of a second tone spacing, the second tone spacing defined for the first bandwidth by a second communication protocol. The set of pilot tones includes a same number of pilot tones as defined for the first bandwidth by the second communication protocol. The data unit is generated to include the one or more OFDM symbols in a data portion of the data unit.

Abstract: In a method of allocating wireless medium resources in a communication system, the communication system including a base station and a plurality of client stations sharing a channel bandwidth, a frequency sub-band of the channel bandwidth is selected for allocating wireless medium resources to a client station. Wireless medium resources are allocated at the base station to the client station. The base station is constrained to allocate wireless medium resources to the client station within the selected frequency sub-band. A subframe is generated for transmission to the client station. The subframe includes at least a data region that contains data for the client station. The data for the client station is confined to be within the selected frequency sub-band.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein provides a system for detecting data received in a low power low rate (LPLR) data frame format. The system includes a receiver and control circuitry. The receiver is configured to receive a data frame comprising an LPLR preamble portion and an LPLR data portion following the LPLR preamble portion. The LPLR preamble portion and the LPLR data portion occupy a bandwidth that is less than an allowed bandwidth. The control circuitry is configured to determine a mode of the data frame based on whether the data frame has an additional portion, and detect a data field in the LPLR preamble portion from the data frame based on the mode of the data frame.

A physical layer (PHY) data unit is transmitted to the two or more communication devices or is received from the two or more communication devices. The PHY data unit includes respective orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) data units transmitted using respective sub-channel blocks allocated to the two or more communication devices.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes techniques and apparatuses for scheduling use of radio resources in a wireless network. In some aspects a method is described that includes receiving an indication from a mobile device of an in-device coexistence problem, and determining, from the parameters in the received indication, one or more component carriers of the carrier aggregation affected by the in-device coexistence problem. The method also includes applying a time-domain solution and/or a frequency domain solution to at least one of the one or more affected component carriers to solve the in-device coexistence problem.
