    Abstract: Embodiments of enabling a secondary cell in a massive MIMO system are generally described herein. An example apparatus of UE may include memory and processing circuitry to configure a MIMO transceiver to establish primary cell transmit and receive channels for communication with an eNodeB, and to receive a secondary cell addition signal that includes a preamble index for a secondary cell. The processing circuitry further configures the MIMO transceiver to receive beam reference signals (BRS), and select one of the BRS from the eNodeB as a secondary cell transmit channel for the secondary cell based on detected BRS receive power. The processing circuitry further configures the MIMO transceiver to provide information for the selected BRS, and provide xPRACH transmissions that include a transmit index to the eNodeB. The processing circuitry further configures the MIMO transceiver to receive selection of one of the xPRACH transmissions as a secondary cell receive channel.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for CSI reporting in the unlicensed band are described. CRS-RSs are transmitted from a RAN in narrowband data channels in the unlicensed band to an eMTC UE. The UE determines the CQI and PMI from the CRS-RSs and transmits a periodic CSI report to the RAN that contains the CQI and PMI. The periodic CSI report is received at a nsfrel th subframe of a nmframeth mframe, where nmframe satisfies nmframe mod Npd,mframe=NOFFSET,mframe where Nmframe is a reporting period in terms of mframes and NOFFSET,mframe is a reporting period offset in terms of mframes, and nsfrel satisfies nsfrel−20=NOFFSET,CQI where NOFFSET,CQI is a reporting period offset in subframes.

    Abstract: Devices and methods of simultaneous data reception and measurement are generally described. A UE transmits to an eNB antenna capacity and receives a Beamformed Reference Signal (BRS) configuration in response. Beamformed signals from the eNB include a BRS subframe in accordance with the BRS configuration. The BRS subframe has a BRS whose structure depends on the UE antenna capacity. If the UE has a single antenna panels, neither an EPDCCH nor a PDSCH for the UE is in the BRS frame. If the UE has a single antenna panels and multiple ports or multiple antenna panels, the BRS may contain an EPDCCH or PDSCH for the UE as different ports or antenna panels may be assigned different functionality. The UE measures BRS Received Power (BRS-RP) of the BRS, transmits a BRS report based on the BRS-RP and selects an optimal beam based on BRS-RPs from BRSs of the beams.

    Abstract: Machine-readable media, methods, apparatus and system for beam acquisition in a wireless system are disclosed. In some embodiments, a base station may comprise a transceiver to transmit, to a user equipment (UE), a plurality of beam reference signals (BRSs) via a plurality of transmission beams; and to receive, from the UE, a report to report receiving information associated with at least one of the BRSs on at least one of the transmission beams, wherein the report comprises an antenna identifier to identify a directional antenna panel or an antenna port associated with the directional antenna panel of the UE which receives the at least one of the BRSs on the at least one of the transmission beam.

    Abstract: Described is an apparatus of an Evolved Node-B (eNB). The apparatus may comprise a first circuitry, a second circuitry, and a third circuitry. The first circuitry may be operable to associate a first Beam Reference Signal (BRS) for a first Transmit (Tx) beam having a first beamwidth with one or more second BRSes for one or more respectively corresponding second Tx beams having a second beamwidth. The second circuitry may be operable to generate a first BRS transmission carrying the first BRS, and to generate one or more second BRS transmissions carrying the one or more respectively corresponding second BRSes. The third circuitry may be operable to provide information regarding the first BRS and the second BRSes to the second circuitry.
