Abstract: Described is an apparatus of an Evolved Node-B (eNB) operable to communicate with a User Equipment (UE) on a wireless network. The apparatus may comprise a first circuitry and a second circuitry. The first circuitry may be operable to initiate a Listen-Before-Talk (LBT) procedure on a bandwidth of the wireless network, the bandwidth being unlicensed spectrum. The second circuitry may be operable to generate a transmission if the LBT procedure indicates that the bandwidth is idle, the transmission comprising a Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) preamble portion and a message portion.

Abstract: A secondary node (SN) in evolved universal mobile telecommunications system terrestrial radio access network new radio-dual connectivity (EN-DC) with a master node (MN) can directly provide measurement configuration and receive measurement reports from a UE and/or coordinate measurement configuration and reporting with the MN. For example, only one measurement object configuration is allowed for a frequency, but both MN and SN can provide measurement reporting configurations on the same measurement object. The UE can send measurement reports for the same measurement object to both MN and SN or the node that configured the reporting criteria configuration. In another embodiment, only one node provides the reporting configuration but configures the UE to provide reporting to one node or both MN and SN.

Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The UE may receive, from a gNB, configuration information related to a 2-step random access (RA) procedure between the UE and the gNB in unlicensed spectrum. The 2-step RA procedure may include: an uplink MsgA message that includes, within a random access occasion (RO), a MsgA preamble and a MsgA payload; and a downlink MsgB message that includes, within another RO, a MsgB PDCCH and a MsgB payload. The configuration information may indicate: resources allocated for the MsgA preamble; and a mapping between the resources allocated for the MsgA preamble and the MsgA payload. The UE may determine the resources allocated for the MsgA pay load based on the resources allocated for the MsgA preamble and the mapping.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE), or other network component can operate to generate listen-before-talk (LBT) operations in order to manage power consumption by configuring the discontinuous reception (DRX) in a dynamic manner. The UE can configure an extended active time for the DRX based on whether the LBT is successful and an acquisition channel indication from a base station, e.g., a next generation NodeB (gNB). The UE can operate aperiodic wakeup occasions with or independently of periodic DRX on-durations to better manage power while monitoring a channel for unlicensed carrier communications.

Abstract: Embodiments of a next generation Node-B (gNB), User Equipment (UE) and methods for communication are generally described herein. A gNB may be configurable to operate as a master gNB (MgNB). The MgNB may transmit radio-resource control (RRC) signaling to provide information for dual connectivity to allow the UE to utilize radio resources of both a master cell group (MCG) associated with the MgNB and a secondary cell group (SCG) associated with a secondary gNB (SgNB). The MgNB may transmit, to the SgNB, an SgNB release request message that indicates a partial suspension of the dual connectivity, wherein: a first portion of a configuration for the SCG is to be maintained and a second portion of the configuration for the SCG is to be released.
