    摘要: A moving image processing method and apparatus for efficient access to a large amount of moving image data. By the hierarchical structure of storage media for storing the compressed moving image data, when reproduction of compressed moving image data is displayed, the data can be transferred with an adjustment of the transfer speed to a predetermined display speed of the moving image. More specifically, the compressed moving image data is transferred from a first storage medium having a large capacity and a slow access speed to a second storage medium having a small capacity and a fast access speed and further transferred from the second storage medium to an expander which expands the data and displays the expanded data. The compressed moving image data and the corresponding administrative information are stored separately in different storage media which are accessible independently of each other. However, the moving image data and the administrative information are regarded as one logical file, preventing an access conflict of the moving image data and the administrative information. Thus efficient access and reproduction of moving image data can be performed.

    摘要: Encoded data, which can be used by a versatile JPEG2000 decoder in a client, and can assure a high-speed decode process of the encoded data and a high-speed display process of image data, is suitably generated using fragmentary encoded data cached in the client, and fragmentary encoded data received as needed from the server. To this end, a client stores first encoded data of encoded data managed by a server, and calculates short second encoded data on the basis of encoded data required to generate JPEG2000 encoded data, and the first encoded data. The client acquires the second encoded data from the server, and segments the encoded data into a plurality of independent encoded data by interpreting the header information of the second encoded data. When not all data of independent encoded data are stored for each segmented unit, the client stores dummy encoded data, and outputs the encoded data as the JPEG2000 encoded data.

For this purpose, to optimize coded image data encoded by decomposition level=4 JPEG 2000 coding scheme (original image size is 1024×1024 pixels) for default display in resolution of 256×256 pixels, data at resolution levels 0 to 2 are decoded, thus a 256×256 resolution (image size) image is obtained. The 256×256 resolution image data, as the lowest resolution LL sub-band in the JPEG 2000 standard, is reconstructed with encoded data at resolution level=0.

The server side codes original image data into hierarchical coded data formed of a plurality of hierarchies, and encrypts at least one of the hierarchies. The server side further adds a predetermined code (code for causing a part of a decoding process to be skipped) to coded data of the encrypted hierarchy. When the hierarchical coded data is to be decoded, the client side does not perform a decoding process on the hierarchy to which the predetermined code is added and performs a decoding process on the coded data of the hierarchy when predetermined conditions are satisfied. This makes it possible to easily and reliably manage image data used for a plurality of types of purposes and to reliably protect the copyright of the image data.
