Abstract:
A broadband couple-fed planar antenna including radiating strips on the ground plane. Plural radiating strips are electrically connected to a ground plane and are formed on the same plane of the ground plane. The radiating strip has a first segment extended from an edge of the ground and a second segment bend at an angle connected to the first segment. The couple-fed planar antenna has a feeding line coupling signals to the radiating strips. The number of the radiating strips is flexible for the required bandwidth of the couple-fed plannar antenna.
Abstract:
Microorganisms or enzymes are immobilized by using polyvinyl alcohol to form beads containing a microorganism or an enzyme. An aqueous solution of about 10 to about 20 wt % polyvinyl alcohol containing a microorganism or an enzyme is reacted with an aqueous solution of about 3 wt % to saturated boric acid for a period of about 10 minutes to about two hours to form gelled spherical beads. The beads are then hardened by treatment with an aqueous solution of about 3 to about 20 wt % phosphoric acid or phosphate for at least 30 minutes. Preferably, the polyvinyl alcohol has a degree of polymerization of about 1000 to about 3000 and a degree of saponification of about 70 to about 99 mol %. In an alternative embodiment, the boric acid solution can contain the phosphoric acid or phosphate. The microorganism can be an acclimatized activated sludge microorganism from agricultural or industrial waste water. The beads can be used for removing inorganic nitrogen and organic carbon in waste water treatment or in processes for making biochemical products.

Abstract:
An adhesive label dispenser includes a drive unit for moving a carrier sheet with adhesive labels thereon, a support plate for guiding the carrier sheet, a conveying mechanism driven by the drive unit, and a sensor unit. The support plate includes a label output end at which the carrier sheet bends downward, freeing the adhesive labels from the carrier sheet. The conveying mechanism is located below the label output end. The conveying mechanism conveys the adhesive labels freed from the carrier sheet to an output end for fetch. The sensor unit detects whether one of the adhesive labels freed from the carrier sheet has reached a predetermined position and sends a signal for stopping or activating the drive unit.
Abstract:
An automatic detector for starting security cameras comprises a detection module disposed on a video camera and the detection module includes a regulator circuit, a light-sensitive circuit, a switch circuit, and a passive infrared sensor circuit, and a recorder control circuit. The passive infrared sensor circuit is connected to the main body of security cameras, the switch circuit is connected to a light and the recorder control circuit is connected to a video camera recorder. In accordance with the structure mentioned above, the main body of the security cameras and the video camera recorder is started by the passive infrared sensor circuit to detect the infrared energy emitted from human bodies. If the illumination of the environment is insufficient, the light-sensitive circuit makes the switch circuit work to switch the light on so that the light is enough to make the pictures clearly.
Abstract:
A color cathode ray tube (CRT) employs a color selection electrode in the form of a thin shadow mask located adjacent the CRT's display screen and having an array of electron beam passing apertures arranged in vertical columns and horizontal rows. To correct for electron beam landing tilt of three inline electron beams on the CRT's display screen arising from the spherical shape of the CRT's shadow mask and display screen, the shadow mask is provided with a two-step function defining the vertical pitch (P.sub.v) of its apertures, or the vertical spacing between adjacent apertures not in the same vertical column. A first quadratic equation is used for defining the vertical pitch of the shadow mask's beam passing apertures covering a first generally flat inner area of the CRT's display screen from the center of the display screen out to where its radius of curvature substantially decreases adjacent its periphery. A second quadratic equation defines the vertical pitch of the shadow mask's beam passing apertures covering the more highly curved, peripheral portion of the display screen to correct for electron beam landing tilt and provide improved video image color purity tolerance. The two-step vari-bow shadow mask employing dual vari-Pv quadratic equations reduces electron beam landing tilt and increases color purity tolerance in areas adjacent to the margin of the effective viewing area of the display screen without reducing the screen's effective viewing area while maintaining a high degree of video image color purity.
