Abstract:
Presented herein are techniques useful in a network comprising a plurality of network nodes each configured to apply one or more service functions to traffic that passes through the respective network nodes. A network node receives packets encapsulated in a service header that includes information defining a variable set of context headers stacked into an association of metadata that is relevant to one or more service functions within a service path comprised of one or more network nodes. The network node interprets a forwarding state and a next-hop network node for the service path from the service header, and determines a service action or associated metadata from the set of context headers.
Abstract:
A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes receiving a request for a service that involves phasor measurement unit (PMU) data; identifying a service device in a network to perform the service; and multicasting one or more results of the service to a group of subscribers identified by a multicast group address. In more particular embodiments, particular PMU data is redirected to the service device via a service insertion architecture (SIA) protocol. In addition, the service can include replicating packets and masking a subset of traffic for forwarding to a first hop router of the network. In certain example instances, metadata is used in order to apply the service to certain traffic propagating in the network.
Abstract:
This disclosure generally relates to a method and system for mapping application dependency information. The present technology relates techniques that enable user-adjustable application dependency mapping of a network system. By collecting internal network data using various sensors in conjunction with external user inputs, the present technology can provide optimized application dependency mapping using user inputs.

This disclosure generally relate to a method and system for network policy simulation in a distributed computing system. The present technology relates techniques that enable simulation of a new network policy with regard to its effects on the network data flow. By enabling a simulation data flow that is parallel and independent from the regular data flow, the present technology can provide optimized network security management with improved efficiency.
Abstract:
A method provides for receiving network traffic from a host having a host IP address and operating in a data center, and analyzing a malware tracker for IP addresses of hosts having been infected by a malware to yield an analysis. When the analysis indicates that the host IP address has been used to communicate with an external host infected by the malware to yield an indication, the method includes assigning a reputation score, based on the indication, to the host. The method can further include applying a conditional policy associated with using the host based on the reputation score. The reputation score can include a reduced reputation score from a previous reputation score for the host.
Abstract:
An example method according to some embodiments includes receiving flow data for a packet traversing a network. The method continues by determining a source endpoint group and a destination endpoint group for the packet. The method continues by determining that a policy was utilized, the policy being applicable to the endpoint group. Finally, the method includes updating utilization data for the policy based on the flow data.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides systems, methods, and computer-readable media for implementing security polices at software call stack level. In one example, a method includes generating a call stack classification scheme for an application, detecting a call stack during deployment of the application; using the call stack classification scheme during runtime of the application, classifying the detected call stack as one of an authorized call stack or an unauthorized call stack to yield a classification; and applying a security policy based on the classification.
Abstract:
An example method includes detecting, using sensors, packets throughout a datacenter. The sensors can then send packet logs to various collectors which can then identify and summarize data flows in the datacenter. The collectors can then send flow logs to an analytics module which can identify the status of the datacenter and detect an attack.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for determining a packet's round trip time (RTT) in a network. A system can receive information of a packet sent by a component of the network and further determine an expected acknowledgement (ACK) sequence number associated with the packet based upon received information of the packet. The system can receive information of a subsequent packet received by the component and determine an ACK sequence number and a receiving time of the subsequent packet. In response to determining that the ACK sequence number of the subsequent TCP packet matches the expected ACK sequence number, the system can determine a round trip time (RTT) of the packet based upon the received information of the packet and the received information of the subsequent packet.
