Abstract:
Systems and methods for communicating in a wireless communication system are described. Various processes for reducing the initial link set up time are described. In one aspect a method in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes receiving, at a terminal, a message including information for establishing a link with a device in the wireless communication system. The method further includes identifying, at the terminal, a time slot and a back-off amount within the identified time slot based on a value included in the received message. The method also includes abstaining from sensing a medium based on the identified time slot and the identified back-off amount. The method further includes transmitting an association request message to establish the link with the device during the identified time slot after expiration of the back-off amount.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for channel state information sounding and feedback are provided. In an aspects, a first message is transmitted to one or more wireless communication devices requesting channel state information. In accordance with this aspects, the first message comprises a header and a payload, the header comprising a plurality of fields of a first field type which are useable to determine the channel state information, and the payload comprising parameters for estimating the channel state information. In certain aspects, the channel state information parameters are also provided in the header of the first message. In various aspects a second message comprising the channel state information is received from the one or more wireless communication devices. In one aspect, the first message is a physical layer convergence protocol data unit (PPDU), and the first field type is a long training field (LTF).
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for compressing block acknowledgment (ACK) frames/packets are described herein. In some aspects, a method of communicating in a wireless network includes generating a compressed block acknowledgment frame comprising one or more local addresses. The method further includes transmitting the compressed block acknowledgment frame.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication are disclosed. In some aspects, a method includes receiving from a transmitting device, via a receiving device, a first wireless frame, the first wireless frame forming at least a portion of a wireless communication exchange between the transmitting device and the receiving device, transmitting to the transmitting device, in response to the first wireless frame, a second wireless frame indicating that the receiving device will enable protection for a remaining portion of the wireless communication exchange, transmitting during a contention period, in response to the indication, a frame reserving the wireless medium for a time period; and receiving, via the receiving device, the remaining portion of the wireless communication exchange from the transmitting device during the time period.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for allocating multi-user resources are provided. In one aspect, the disclosure provides for a method of wireless communication with a plurality of wireless stations. The method comprises transmitting, by an access point, a first communication to a first wireless station, the first communication comprising an indication of a group of wireless stations from among the plurality of wireless stations, the group of wireless stations comprising the first wireless station. The method further comprises receiving, by the access point, a second communication from the first wireless station. The method further comprises transmitting, by the access point, a third communication to the group of wireless stations, the third communication comprising data for the group of wireless stations. In certain aspects, the third communication comprises a block acknowledgment of at least a portion of the second communication.
Abstract:
Techniques for proving enterprise mode security for relays are disclosed. For example, enterprise mode security based on IEEE 802.1x is provided for relays or other similar devices to extend the coverage of access point hotspots or other similar access point use cases. According to one aspect, a relay incorporates an authentication client associated with an authentication server. According to another aspect, a four address format is employed for tunneling messages via a relay between a station and an access point. According to another aspect, a cryptographic master key associated with an access point and a station is provided to a relay to enable the relay to be an authenticator for the station.
Abstract:
A system and method for wireless devices to efficiently receive communications by transmitting and receiving specialized beacon messages. Particularly, a wireless device may await reception of a synchronizing beacon message from a transmitting device. A relative position identifier within the synchronizing beacon message may then allow the wireless device to anticipate future beacon message transmissions and to synchronize its reception pattern with the transmitter. In this manner the wireless device need only receive and decode beacon messages germane to its operation.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for wireless communications are disclosed. In one aspect, an apparatus for wireless communications includes a receiver configured to wirelessly receive a message comprising a time for the apparatus to wake up and instructions to execute an action in response to receiving a paging frame from a wireless communication device. The receiver is further configured to receive the paging frame from the wireless communication device. The apparatus further includes a processor configured to execute the action in response to receiving the paging frame. In one implementation, receiving the paging frame comprises comparing an address of the paging frame with an address of the apparatus. The action may include one or more of sending a power save poll frame, waiting for packet reception, receiving the beacon, and receiving the delivery traffic indication message beacon.
