The apparatus may be a UE configured to determine whether a first subframe includes at least one sub-channel carrying information intended for the UE, receive the information via at least one receive (Rx) chain associated with the at least one sub-channel when the information intended for the UE is carried on the at least one sub-channel included in the first subframe, and deactivate the at least one Rx chain associated with the at least one sub-channel based on whether the information intended for the UE is absent from the at least one sub-channel included in the first subframe.

    Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow a UE to apply a modified interference cleaning data to account for differences in interference between at least one pilot resource and at least one data resource, thereby improving data decoding performance of the UE. The UE receives at least one pilot resource and at least one data resources from a base station and identifies interference cleaning data based on the pilot resource. The UE then determines whether a first interference affecting the pilot resource is the same as a second interference affecting the data resource. When the first interference is the same as the second interference, the UE applies the interference cleaning data to the data resource. Otherwise, when the first interference is different than the second interference, the apparatus applies a modified interference cleaning data to the data resource.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to minimizing the block error rate (BLER) experienced by a user equipment (UE) upon a downlink beam switch at the base station. The base station may mitigate the link adaptation convergence transient upon performing a beam switch by modifying the modulation and coding scheme (MCS) according to a difference in reference signal received power (RSRP) between the old beam and the new beam. The base station may further adjust the MCS utilizing an outer-loop link adaptation process or channel state feedback (CSF) provided by the UE after the beam switch.     Abstract: In order to enable asynchronous, autonomous reception beam switching at a UE while minimizing degradation due to a transient in link performance, a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives CSI-RS on different reception beams in different symbols, wherein one reception beam being a current serving reception beam, and determines whether to switch to a different reception beam based on a SPEFF metric for the different reception beam and/or a severity of a potential link transient qualified in terms of the expected CQI/MCS degradation in the channel. The apparatus may switch from a current serving reception beam to a second reception beam when a first channel quality for the current serving reception beam is within a threshold value of a second channel quality for the second reception beam, the second channel quality being measured using a current configuration.

    Abstract: In some aspects of the systems, methods, and devices described herein, one or more asymmetric modulation constellations may be utilized. For example, a modulation constellation utilized to modulate data symbols may be asymmetric. In some approaches, an asymmetric modulation constellation may be generated by introducing a phase shift (e.g., cyclic shift, phase rotation) to one or more constellation points of a modulation constellation. An asymmetric modulation constellation may allow detecting phase shifts without ambiguity. For example, a user equipment (UE) may perform channel estimation or phase noise estimation aided by data symbols that are modulated with an asymmetric modulation constellation. In some examples, a UE may receive a message from a network entity indicating a configuration of an asymmetric modulation constellation. The UE may demodulate data symbols of a data signal based on a channel characterization estimate that is associated with the configuration of the asymmetric modulation constellation.
